Story
Gertie 10 years young · 13 lbs · Female · Small-breed mix
Gertie arrived at Manhattan ACC as a stray — though one look at this fluffy, underbite-having, eyelash-batting little creature and it's hard to imagine she fended for herself for long. Someone was definitely spoiling her.
She's got adorable tufted ears, a signature underbite, and — full disclosure — a rough recent haircut she is still recovering from. The luscious locks will return. In the meantime, she's working the gremlin-chic look with full confidence.
Gertie has a highly optimized daily routine: walk the neighborhood, collect her cheese and treat tax from admirers, return home victorious, nap. Repeat. She has already become a local fixture, deploying her white eyelashes at full power on anyone who makes eye contact.
She is not a barker — she's a communicator. Gertie vocalizes her feelings with enthusiastic little whines that make her inner life completely transparent. Joy? You'll know. Opinions about dinner timing? Very much known. You will never be left guessing.
She loves walks (she sees that leash, she knows), chasing a good ball, and finding the ideal pillow arrangement. Squeaky toys remain a philosophical puzzle she has not yet solved, but she's keeping an open mind.
