Story
This poor cat just can’t seem to catch a break. 💔 Originally bought from a breeder, he soon found himself living outside. For at least three months he tried to make it on his own as his long fur turned into tight mats, as he was attacked by another animal and dealt with the resulting infected bite wound the best he could, and as he eventually made it back home only to be promptly surrendered to animal control. That was actually the best thing that could have happened to Applejack though. His fur was maintained, and his wound treated. He found people he mattered to — shelter volunteers. Then came the next blow. He tested positive for Feline Leukemia (FeLV). According to his surrender sheet, he’d never been provided vaccines by his owner. FeLV is an infectious virus that weakens a cat’s immune system making them susceptible to secondary infections, cancers and other diseases. It is easily transmissible to other cats through close contact. What does this mean for Applejack? He’ll be retested in 30 - 60 days to confirm he truly has FeLV. If he is truly positive, he will need a home as an only cat or only live with other cats with FeLV. We wish we could say stories like this rarely come up, but that wouldn’t be true. Applejack is one of multiple homeless animals (this week alone) that have been provided the healthcare they need by Pound Pals Downriver. We are eternally grateful for PPD, our volunteers and our supporters. ❤️ Online Cat Adoption Forms: : https://wacshelter.com/adopt-a-cat/ Website for general questions: www.wacshelter.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wacshelter/ Email: wacvolunteers@gmail.com ** Be sure to check out our FACEBOOK page for day to day updates on our cats and dogs. Story
Jynx is the best – but if you tell them so, you’ll make them blush! They don’t like being the center of attention, but if you give them soft blinky eyes and a little patience, you’ll soon become theirs. They’re very good at hide and seek, so since you want their lovely company as much as possible, it’d be best to take things slow. After all, the best things in life are worth waiting for – like a special bond with a cat who doesn’t give head bumps to just anyone. Jynx would do best in a home without small children so they can be your main focus.

Story
Hi my name is Winterlite! I am a shy cat looking for a patient owner who is willing to give me time to adjust and open up in my new home. I can be rather shy so I would prefer a quieter home without younger children. Once I get comfortable, I will come out of my shell and start to show more of my true personality. After all, the best things in life are worth waiting for – like a special bond with a cat who likes the calmer side of life. Winterlite is Feline Leukemia (FeLV) positive. FeLV is a serious virus that is contagious to other cats (but not contagious to people or other species of animals). It may cause a shortened lifespan but FeLV cats have so much fun and love to give. Please call or come in to find out more.Winterlite is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Please email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734)662-5585 to arrange a meeting today!

Once I get comfortable, I will come out of my shell and start to show more of my true personality. I would need a home without cats or dogs, as I have previously been stressed by living with other pets. As your only baby, you will get to watch me blossom into the best cat I can be. Please come see me soon!
