She has been my quiet little shadow for nine beautiful years, my constant comfort in a world that never stops moving. With her soft white fur, gentle blue eyes, and calm soul, she brought peace into my home in ways words can't fully explain. She's never been just a cat to me- she's been my emotional support, my silent companion, my baby. Letting her go is the hardest thing I've ever had to face, and I wouldn't even consider it if I truly had another choice. I only want her to be somewhere she will feel the same love, safety, and tenderness she has always known with me. Whoever opens their heart and home to her will be receiving something truly rare and precious. This decision has been made with deep love and care, and only in her best interest. Her new family must be committed to providing a peaceful home, regular care and grooming, proper veterinary attention, and, most importantly, lifelong love and stability. I will ensure she goes to a home where she will be treated like family.

This poor beautiful young cat has been through a lot. He’s been very popular and the subject of posts in several groups on Facebook. He spent 3 months outside that we are aware with people trying to catch him. Somehow, he was bounced back and forth from Southgate to Woodhaven and back to Southgate. He came into our care last week when his owner surrendered him to the shelter due to allergies. We’ve named him Applejack. We’re told he’s 1 year old and was purchased from a breeder. He’s not neutered and has no veterinary history. He arrived very matted, but it didn’t take us long to realize he had infected bite wounds on his rear leg. Despite all he’s been through, Applejack only purred when being pet. He was so patient while a shelter volunteer brushed him and worked out some of the tight mats that were clearly causing him discomfort. We’re sure resolving the fleas made him feel a lot better too. Ultimately, he had to be shaved due to the mats. He was noticeably relieved when the worst of them were gone. Once the infection has resolved he will be neutered, FIV/FeLV tested and vaccinated. She had been surrendered to an animal shelter by her family because they were moving. When she came to Last Day Dog Rescue, she was extremely fearful, wanting to hiss at and scratch everyone. After allowing her time to decompress in the fosters home, she has mellowed out somewhat, and is friendlier, wanting to be petted and jump up into your lap! She is a long haired beautiful calico and enjoys being stroked gently. She prefers not to be picked up and held though. Elvira appears large because of all her fur, but weighs about 12 lbs and is estimated to be around 3 years old. Her foster has 3 other cats and a dog and she and another female cat will hiss and growl at each other so they are kept separate in the home. She is a curious and independent cat! We recommend a quieter home for Elvira with no other pets, no children (or older kids only), and a family who will be patient with her. She is spayed, is up-to-date on vaccinations, has been dewormed, and is FeLV/FIV negative.
