Story
Meet Theodore: Survivor, Wrestler, Professional Food Inspector!Theodore was only supposed to be a temporary guest. The plan was simple: come into foster care, get neutered, recover for a few days, and head back to the shelter. Theodore, however, had other plans. He arrived at the rescue in rough shape, and after his neuter surgery we discovered a mysterious bruise blooming across his abdomen. Bloodwork revealed clotting issues, likely caused by ingesting rodent poison sometime before he came to us. Instead of a quick recovery, Theodore found himself on a month-long treatment plan complete with daily medications and a foster family making sure he stayed on track. Theodore is happy to report that he survived the ordeal and is now thriving. He's gained weight, his bloodwork is normal, and he's fully embraced his second chance at life. His primary hobby is food. In fact, Theodore may be the most food-motivated cat on the planet. Most of the time he's a quiet gentleman. But when mealtime approaches, he transforms into a tiny orange predator, prowling the house and announcing his hunger with an assortment of chirps, trills, and concerned commentary about the apparent food shortage.Socially, Theodore is still figuring things out. Having spent much of the last eight months as an only cat, he arrived with the social grace of someone who learned all their relationship skills from professional wrestling. He absolutely loves other cats. His best friend is our 8-year-old cat Frank, who happily engages in Theodore's favorite pastime: wrestling matches that seem to have no rules and no clear winner. Theodore also attempted to recruit our two younger cats into his wrestling league. They were less enthusiastic about his full-contact approach and have spent the last month teaching him valuable lessons about personal space, reading social cues, and obtaining consent before launching a surprise tackle. To his credit, Theodore is learning. He's a sweet, resilient, slightly awkward orange boy who has overcome a lot in a short amount of time. He loves food, loves cats, loves playtime, and is proof that sometimes the cats who start out as "just a short foster stay" have a way of making themselves unforgettable.Just don't be late with dinner. Theodore has opinions about that.Location: The Cat Corner (no-kill shelter)85 Fulton StreetHampton, Va.
