Story
Young, single male looking for long term commitment and love! About me: I crave approval and affection from those I trust and love. I have been hurt terribly in the past, but am willing to give you my all if you can give me a little patience and time to get to know you. I am very social and am friends with all the dogs at the park! I even like cats. I'm happy to go out anywhere, anytime or just chill and snuggle on the couch. I'm not a picky eater and am now a healthy boy. If you want to go on adventures, let me be your road dawg! I want to protect my home and people, but also really wish to please you so I listen well. Many have called me sweet, charming, and smart - a total gentleman. Although I cannot have kids, I am very affectionate to the young one that lives here. I have been actively improving myself for months with leash manners and socialization with humans. I do have a microchip and am up to date on all vaccinations. I'll come with a kennel, bed, toys, clothes, and food.

We will require applicants to be available to travel there. This is one of those times where we jumped in for a breed that is a bit out of the norm for our rescue. A breeder contacted a vet looking to surrender (euthanize) a GSD puppy because he had a heart condition. They knew to get ahold of one of our volunteers because we have taken in many puppies with heart conditions. Alfred visited our fabulous cardiologist where he was diagnosed with subaortic stenosis. We were advised that medication or surgery is not necessary at this time, it may never be necessary. What will be important is for his family to keep him healthy, keep him at a proper weight & feed good food, monitor his heart with regular check-ups, and allow him to be a dog! In his foster home, Albert has been a good friend to all the canines in the home. He had a special friendship with a Frenchie puppy who also had a heart condition. He played with her and understood he needed to be easy because she was so little. He is a very sociable boy. Alfred is working on potty training. It is a process that will require commitment & patience. When a new environment is introduced, there are changes in routine, therefore he will need his family to set him up for a successful transition. Consistency & patience will be required. Alfred is doing very well with leash walking. His training is basic & he has a bit to go to be an ace. But he is smart and extremely trainable. He is a puppy, and he has puppy energy, he also doesn't have "manners", so his family will need to be prepared to train basic commands like sit, stay, off, etc. Until he learns these, please bear in mind he could be a fall hazard for unstable people or young children. Alfred has been staying in a puppy-safe dedicated area of the home when his foster mom goes to work. He has not been crate or kennel trained. He has plenty of puppy-appropriate toys in his space & he alternatively naps & plays throughout the day. He really really enjoys having a canine friend to play with, so we would like to see him find a home with a furry friend, but it is not mandatory. Please apply if you meet the requirements & would like to adopt this big lug, he is a super sweet guy. We are ready to process applications & find Alfred his forever family!
