You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ahri came to the shelter on 8/7/2026 as an owner surrender. Her owners' lives underwent some big changes and they could no longer give her the time and attention she deserves. She is a mature 7 to 8 year old white German shepherd mix, although she looks close to a purebred. She could also be mixed with lab and husky. We have been working with Ahri and giving her time to adjust to the big changes in her life and we think she's ready to move onto a new home. We will be getting her fully vet checked and updated on her vaccinations soon. She is already spayed and microchipped. Our volunteers have done an excellent job on cleaning her up, too. She's been brushed out and bathed. Her adoption fee is $125. Ahri is an extremely shy and nervous girl. Her whole world has been changed so it's understandable. She is very sensitive and intelligent. She's looking for a very experienced and secure environment. Ahri will not be the type to jump into someone's lap right away, for sure, but with time and a lot of patience, she'll become a person's most loyal friend. She has had basic training and has done okay with male dogs of similar size. She has done okay with kids, too. Cats? We're not sure. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Caesar originally came to us in February 2020, when he was around 3 years old. He was adopted soon after and lived a happy life with his people for over 6 years. Sadly, his life changed drastically when both of his people passed away over the course of a couple of years. In September 2026, family members had to make the truly tough decision to return Caesar to the shelter. We would like to see him back in a home as soon as possible. He has had a complete vet exam and is remarkably healthy. It's hard to believe he's around 9 years old! His adoption fee is $125. Caesar appears to be a white German shepherd, if not a mix, and he looks great for an older dog. He's a sensitive, intelligent, and loving gentleman who has had some basic training. He's still pretty athletic and has been known to jump fences so a secure environment is important. He's well mannered and has done well around other calmer dogs and older kids. Cats? We're not really sure. He will also need some regular exercise, followed by some couch time. He would love a home in which someone is home most of the time. Help us find the perfect retirement home for this handsome and wonderful dog! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Argo arrived in November 2022 from our friends at the Rescue Network after he was rescued from a Reservation in South Dakota. He is about 4 to 5 years old and does have a lot of the trademark features of mixed breed dogs from Reservations - "Rezzies", as they are affectionately known in rescue. Like many Rezzies, he could be a mix of cattle dog and German and/or Australian shepherd, just to name a few possible options. He's a handsome and very active dog. He has been vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125. Argo has had some basic training and will require a lot of consistent exercise. This is of the utmost importance in order to keep him well balanced and happy. He is ready for action all the time but gets serious when leashed. He does pretty well on leash walks and loves car rides. He's an affectionate guy, too, who thinks nothing of climbing into a person's lap if he gets the chance. Argo would do best in a home with a large fenced yard. He's NOT a dog for apartment living. He's looking for an ADULT only, single person home as he tends to bond very closely to his person and becomes quite protective. No cats for him. He's incredibly smart and would be a lot of fun to train! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved.
