Dog meet and greets are by appointment only, please answer the questions below the bio, either through Petfinder, Adopt-A-Pet, Rescueme.org or by directly e-mailing us at shelter@hbpets.org. Please be patient, we try and get back to you as quick as possible. Longest dog resident: 595 days, that is how long Luca has been at our shelter, 595 days, as of 4/18/24. We don't understand why, Luca is sweet, lovable, goofy, his recall is 90%, he knows sit, stay, leave-it, kennel and handsome boy (he tilts his head), he has a long list of many different breed dogs he has played with (from cattle dogs to Labradors to malamutes to German Shepard's), he does well at he groomers, he loves water, any kind of water, whether that be pool water or a muddy pond. Luca came to us in 2022, from a local county shelter who have been hit hard with abandoned dogs, he was on their list to be euthanized due to overcrowding, they reached out and we took him in, we never expected him to still be here 595 days later. Sure, he cannot live with cats, he doesn't like intact male dogs or Alpha dogs and he shy's away from children under 10yrs, but he truly is he most amazing dog, he is coming up on his 2yr anniversary here, is there no one who will give this boy a home before then?? My adoption fee is $150: This includes neuter, vaccines, microchip, dewormer, flea treatment and a 1 pound bag of food. 1. Do you own or rent? 2. Do you have a private fenced yard? 3. Do you go hiking, jogging or do physical activities that he can be a part of? 4. How many people and age groups live in your home? 5. How many animals, types and what they are like! 6. Do you have time to continue his leash manners? 7. How many hours a day will he be alone? 8. Do you have time for brushing? 9.Please tell us more about how he would spend his days and what activities you would plan!

Dog meet and greets are by appointment only, please answer the questions below the bio, either through Petfinder, Adopt-A-Pet, rescueme.org or by directly e-mailing us at shelter@hbpets.org. Please be patient, we try to get back to everyone quickly. Hi there, I'm Wendy! I'm just a young adult, almost 2 1/2yrs old, full of life and love. I'm sweet as can be, always ready to give you a big doggy kiss. I love water, and fetching my toys from the kiddie pool! I'm loyal, too. I'll always be by your side, ready to lend a paw. I'm a bit goofy, always ready to make you laugh with my silly antics. I'm smart, too. I've learned so many tricks and I'm always eager to learn more. I'm curious about the world around me, always ready to explore. I'm friendly with everyone I meet, and I'm a cuddly pup who loves a good snuggle. I would love to find a forever home where I can share all these wonderful traits. If you're looking for a sweet, playful, loyal, and loving companion, I'm your girl! Wendy's has played with a lot of different types of dogs from Huskies to Malamutes to German Shepherds, her current play buddy is Luca (he is up for adoption too)!! I just got done with a 3 week train and board with Marvin Pierce Dog Teacher and I am very excited to show my new owner, what I have learned. I am a no cat and no young children (under 10yrs) kind of girl! My adoption fee is $250, includes spay, microchip, vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment and 1pound bag of food. 1. Do you have a privately fenced yard? 2. How many humans and ages live in your home? 3. How many animals and types? 4. Do you have time for daily walks or jogs? 5. Are you active, hiking etc? 6. Do you have the time for brushing? 7. Do you have the time to give her hugs and kisses? 8. Have you owner a German Shepard before, if so please tell us about them. 9. What would a typical Wendy day be like?

Story
Benny has been with his fosters in Salem OR since arriving on transport. They nicknamed him nudge as when he wants attention he comes over and gives a little nudge. He’s bonded extremely well his foster dad and enjoys the company on everyone in the home. He does awesome in his kennel and on potty training and is even showing interest in playing with toys. He has a sweet and docile temperament with no signs of aggression or resource guarding. He also has been doing extremely well with his recall when called to come back inside from outside play or potty time! Benny will make a great family dog but I also think could thrive in a home with other dogs to keep him company.
