Story
CarrotitoI`ve lived a life that could grace the pages of People Magazine (or at least Cat Magazine)! In April 2019, I was found as a stray in Noblesville, a mere 1-year-old with a bite wound on my right rear leg that needed urgent treatment. My journey took a turn when I was diagnosed with FIV+.* But I didn`t let that define me. Because I was (and still am) extremely good-looking with a marvelous personality, I was adopted as soon as I recovered from my wound. Imagine the staff`s surprise when I reappeared as a stray cat in July 2024! To top it all off, my owner did not want to reclaim me. Too bad for him because my foster mom (a VIP at the HSHC) says I am seriously the sweetest guy! I am now 7-years-old, neutered, with excellent litterbox skills. I have many endearing qualities. I get along famously with my foster family`s German Shepherd. I`m learning how to navigate on a cat harness and leash. I must be supervised while roaming the territory, but it`s very exciting! I am an avid bird and squirrel watcher, always ready at the window with my kitty binoculars. Give me a screened window by which I can perch, and I`m a happy fellow. Because I have no teeth now, I must eat wet food only. But this is no big deal...I LOVE food! I am also known for my melodious purr stylings. Which I do pretty much all the time. I am an affectionate fellow obsessed with rubbing against you to show my love. If you are in the market for an orange and white lovebug with lots of life to live, please contact the HSHC to meet me! 5-16-25*[FIV is a virus found only in cats that can lower a cat`s immune system. It can`t be transmitted to people, dogs, or other animals. It isn`t transferred through bowls, litterboxes, toys, bedding, sneezing, or casual contact. I can live a long, happy life even with FIV- cats, with regular vet visits and a healthy diet.]

Story
CarrieIn order to understand me, you need to know a bit about my history. I am an alumnus of HSHC. My brother and I were adopted as adorable kittens in 2018. We were besties until age 1, then my brother chased me, pounced on me, and pinned me down, which I hated! Then, my family brought home a new kitten without giving me time to adjust to this change. One day, we accidentally got trapped in the same room, and I lost my temper with her. No serious injuries occurred, but this sealed my fate. I am now 6-years, 8-months-old, and due to my early life, I have lots of anxiety about any change in my life. I crave predictability, routine, and consistency. I was surrendered to HSHC in September 2024. Because I was unhappy in the cattery, I moved into a foster home in January. I have been happier living there than any time in my life! My foster mom (FM) has told me I am one of the coolest and most gentle cats she`s ever met. For example, on the first trip to her house, I quietly sat, making biscuits, and watched my FM. I think she loves me! In the four months I have lived with FM, I have demonstrated perfect skills in eating, using the litterbox, and communicating. I`ve never scratched the furniture, eaten the houseplants, or bothered human food in any way. She likes how I will meow when I need something, like affection or playtime. I let her know my favorite toys are anything attached to a stick, mice, and little balls I can bat all over. I am also patient with her. If she is petting me too much, which might be overstimulating, I`ll gently pat her or let her know with a tiny nibble. She told me she`s never had such a gentle cat. I believe in making clear signs that I don`t like something. You just have to read them. Favorite activities include being brushed, licking my person, showing my belly (don`t touch, just look), being a lap cat, and sitting in the window watching birds, dogs, squirrels, and people. Major turn-offs are other cats (the feral cats outdoors are a big pain in my neck) and being picked up. According to my FM, anyone would be lucky to have me as their companion. She said, and I quote, `I sometimes wonder if she`s really a cat!` 5-6-25

Story
FionaYou may recall my previous story regarding being surrendered to HSHC in October 2024, along with my siblings, because our owner was moving. We all had fleas and a nasty skin infection. Once I recovered from this, I was adopted in January `25 but surrendered again due to some tummy troubles. I was getting pretty discouraged when I moved into a foster home in April. I struck gold with these foster parents (FPs)! My foster dad understands cats very well and set me up to succeed with my own room, bed, litterbox, and cat toys! I`ve been eating wet food with my medicine mixed in and chowing down on the dry. Greenie Cat treats are my favorite. I could eat them 24/7, but my foster dad says only 2 or 3 a day. By the way, I use my litterbox faithfully. I spend most of my time lying in bed in my room to ensure I get my beauty rest! However, I`ve been roaming around the house more frequently. But as soon as the FPs take notice with a positive reaction, I usually retreat to my room. I don`t like a fuss being made over me. I haven`t spent much time building a relationship with the resident cat. We have a tentative agreement to stay out of each other`s way. At bedtime, I go into my room with the door closed to avoid confrontations. I have met the grandkids, ages 9 & 4 1/2, but we didn`t get up close and personal. I have not yet engaged in interactive-toy play sessions, but sometimes play alone. I am obsessed with being brushed with a soft-bristle brush. Although I do not enjoy being picked up, I have lain on my FD`s lap for a while. I used to hide constantly, but now I am more comfortable being with my humans. Thunder and lightning don`t bother me in the least. I`m embarrassed to admit that I occasionally snore when I sleep!! But hey, I`m 12.5 years old and that`s allowed! My new family must do gradual introductions to any pets you already have. The stress I experienced in my former home made it impossible to thrive there. I look forward to meeting you.....SOON! 5-15-25
