I’m Marin (also known as “baby” since I was the smallest of my siblings) and was born around 3/22/2022.  I have a heart murmur and have had a couple of allergy flare up.  We don’t know exactly what causes my allergies however when I have a flair up I’ve taken Prednisolone has resolved it when needed. My heart murmur just gets monitored so nothing is needed at this time for it.  I’m so excited that I no longer have to eat a prescription diet which I was trying to see if my allergies were food related.  If you met me you would not know I have periodic allergies or a heart murmur.  I’m a sweet boy who enjoys a good snuggle and bird watching from the window!  My best friend and brother is Nox. If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please complete the online Adoption Application.  If you would like to donate to this pet's care, please click here. Look no further than Nox, the male orange tabby who is winning hearts with his sweet and laid back nature. Nox has Feline Atopic Skin Syndrome, an allergy that requires special care and attention. But don't let that deter you from adopting him, as he is currently receiving medication and going to a pet allergy specialist to get tested. With the hope of ending his allergy issues, Nox is a sweet kitty who deserves a loving home. He enjoys bird watching and belly rubs, and his allergy is not food-related, so he can enjoy treats like any other cat. Story
StellaI was a 2-month-old stray kitten when I first came to the HSHC. I am now 6-years-old and have lived with two different owners. I want you to know that I LOVE adults & teens. I used to sleep with my owners! I am a friendly, outgoing girl, but I liked being home alone, with no commotion to disturb my naps. When little kids arrived, they made a lot of noise and disrupted the routine. I prefer a calm, predictable environment. When the interviewer lady came to my little room, I quickly went to her for some attention. I love being petted, scratched, and stroked! I am an affectionate girl as long as little children are not around. Although I have had litter box avoidance incidents, I never had problems with the litterbox in my foster home. I readily used various litter types at various height levels. If you give me a small space of my own, with everything I need in one place, I will feel much better about moving in with you. Let me settle in for a few weeks before giving me free rein of the house. I have enjoyed the company of a dog, but I have never lived with other cats (until arriving back at the shelter). Because I have been at the HSHC three times, you must meet with me more than once to ensure it is a match made in heaven. I am eager for a fresh start, so hurry up! 1-29-24

Story
PrancerThe interviewer lady (IL) remembers seeing me when I was just a 10-week-old kitten surrendered to HSHC because my owner had too many animals. I was adopted in December of 2022 but was returned on February 18, 2024. Here is my side of the story. I am 1.5-years-old now. At some point, my family adopted two new kittens, bringing the total number of cats in the house to five. We had only three litterboxes for all five of us, in a 1600 square foot home. I couldn't handle the stress! Stress is a major contributing factor to developing UTIs and painful crystals. I am now on a diet designed to prevent crystals from forming, and I feel so much better. Today, when the IL opened my door, I happily approached her for pets and scratches. I am an affectionate girl who prefers to eat when I have a loved one nearby. Here, they call that affection eating. I need a new home to provide me with everything I need to feel confident, calm, and comfortable. Maybe you'd like to do so. 3-18-24

Story
StormyHi all, Stormy here! Don't let the name fool you; I'm neither gloomy nor unpredictable. I am 100% friendly and affectionate, and I like to talk--a lot! I am a 10-year-old brown and black Tabby girl who had good reasons for being sad. I lived with my owner since I was a kitten, but when I was nearly 8, my owner moved to another country. I had a tumultuous year after that, going from place to place and becoming more stressed. Additionally, I was declawed when I was young and topped the scale at 21.5 pounds, both of which caused me pain. [A soft, fine-grained litter can be easier on my sore tootsies.] Luckily, I met my foster mom, who truly understands cats. She helped me overcome my fearful behavior when feeling threatened. Now, I love to be petted and cuddle close. She has also helped me reduce my weight to 15.5 pounds with my new diet. Sadly, we found out I was diabetic. I thought my life was over, but it's not! My foster mom makes sure my diabetes stays under control. I get my blood sugar checked and take my insulin like a champ! Now that my diabetes is under control, I would love to find my forever home. My dream is a quiet home where my new owner gives me plenty of time to settle in and feel comfortable. 2-22-24

Story
WilmaI may be the only Wilma you will ever know, except for Wilma Flintstone. But she's a cartoon from the '60s, and I'm a very pretty 3-year-old Tortoiseshell cat. I was found as a stray cat in 2023 and was surprised to learn I was pregnant! I had my kittens and then got adopted. My owner's health recently declined, so I was returned to HSHC. To my delight, I was then moved to the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC) to meet people and find my forever family. I love it here! There are lots of other cats, but I tend to stay by myself while I figure out the ropes. When the interviewer lady stopped by, I was near the ceiling. You see, they have a humongous artificial tree whose branches lead up to the ductwork and supports. I enjoy climbing up there and relaxing. It allows me to see everything that is going on without having to engage in small talk. I'm just a little shy. I didn't even come down when offered treats! When I'm on the ground, I am sweet-natured and sometimes rather vocal. Come to have a coffee and meet me! We'll have a yabba-dabba-doo good time! 4-15-24

Story
I was a stray in a colony of cats. Most of them were scaredy cats, but I am not at all. I am very loving, and want to be loved and petted. I have a flea allergy, so it has been rough having to live outside. My gorgeous black and brown fur is growing back and I just love for my person to pet me and hold me. I am quite the talker and will hold an hour long conversation with you especially when you're not paying me any attention!! I hope to have a forever family who will value me as a member of the family.

Story
My name is Maggie. I was a mom to 4 beautiful baby boys who have all found their forever home. I gave birth to them outside. When they were 3 days old a nice lady came and brought us into her house. I love it inside! I use the litter box. I get along easily with other kitties and tolerate dogs well. I'm a nice cat and I LOVE other cats but I don't allow my people to pet me very often. I prefer to watch. I love to watch my foster mom work in the kitchen and around the house! I'm told my behavior will make it more difficult to find me a home. I want to go to a home with at least one other cat. I'm looking for a place I can happily live and continue to learn to trust. I just need a family with patience a big heart! Is that you?

Story
I was born at a cat collector's house. That may sound crazy, but she really is. She decided that she would let us go to a home, along with some others. I am very thankful that I was able to get out and have the opportunity to find a home. I am a sweetie. I love to play. I will play with anything that I find interesting. I love feather toys and balls that crunch. If you want to adopt me, here is a link to apply. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/POMH/Cat

I came from an area where people drop off cats and kittens in the country. If you have never had a black cat before, you might be in for a treat. Black cats are not only beautiful, but we have great personalities. I am a sweet girl who is ready for a home of her own. I am playful and lots of fun. I will be a great companion for you.
