At 6 years old, Winnie is looking for a new beginning. She came to us through no fault of her own when her beloved owner had to move and was unable to take her along. Despite all the changes, Winnie has adjusted beautifully to shelter life. She loves greeting visitors, happily soaks up attention, and never turns down a good petting session. She's the kind of cat who makes you feel welcome the moment you meet her. One surprise during her intake was that Winnie tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). We have her previous veterinary records, and this has never been noted before, so we plan to re-test her at the beginning of August. Even if Winnie is confirmed to be FIV-positive, she can still live a long, happy life and she can safely live with other cats. FIV is not spread through sharing food bowls, water dishes, litter boxes, grooming, cuddling, or simply living together. It is primarily transmitted through deep bite wounds, something that's uncommon in stable, friendly households. Winnie deserves a fresh start and she's ready to fill a new home with love, companionship, and plenty of purrs.
