Story
My neighbor and I have started trapping/fixing cats in our complex. Sydney was our first to get fixed at Abadie Vet I have wanted to get another cat and Sydney was very friendly and seemed to have exposure to people. He would walk into my apartment every time I opened the door. On Saturday, December 13, I took him to Healthy Paws to get fecal test and tested for Feline leukemia and HIV. Also got him microchipped and his nails trimmed. He did great with all of the testing and came back negative for everything but the worms. He had his first worm medicine and flea meds and I was given second worm topical med and purchased 3 additional months of flea meds. I have receipts showing everything that has been done for Sydney. Unfortunately, I cannot keep him. He is very affectionate and is very much a lap cat. But he also weighs 12 lbs. and is very strong. For the past 2 days, he has repeatedly landed on my neck and upper back and my shoulders are very sore. I am 67 with COPD

Story
Hi, I’m Pappy — a shy orange boy with a heart that’s been through more than most. My sisters Mini Mini, Pantera, and I had a dad who loved us with his whole heart. We were his everything. But then one day, he was taken away… deported. Since then, nothing’s felt right. I don’t understand where he went or why we had to lose him. All I know is, I’ve been scared ever since. The shelter is a hard place for a soft soul like mine. I miss my dad. I miss my home. I spend a lot of time hiding, but I haven’t given up hope. I’m waiting for someone kind and patient to see past my fear and help me bloom. And when I do? Oh, I promise — I’ll be playful, snuggly, and so full of love. I just need someone to believe in me.If you’ve got a tender heart and a quiet home, I think we could really be something special. I know my dad would want me to find that love again — and I’m hopeful that I will.As a special promotion, cats like Pappy that have been waiting 6+ months for a home receive 3 months of Revolution flea, tick, ear mite, and heartworm preventatives– a $79 value!________________________________________________If you would like to meet one of our adoptables or learn more about them, please submit an application at https://animalrescueneworleans.org/adoptfoster/.**Note: Our shelter is open by scheduled appointment only after your application is approved.
