Story
Hi Y'all, I am Kit, a sweet kitten according to my foster mom but shy. She picks me up but I want to get down after a period of time. I am building up my confidence in humans and slowly I hope to be not as shy and cuddlier like my sisters. Please see how sweet I am..... you'll love me so much. And like my sisters I love treats, too, especially Churu and Applaws tuna loin filet. Please make sure you have these in your home when you adopt me. I am so spoiled and won't be very happy without these amazing treats. Sorry but I am a Diva with my treats. I enjoy playing with cat teasers toys and I get very excited for catnip and catnip toys! Guess I must be addicted to catnip.......but then how many kitties are not???? What more would you ever need??? I'm ready to become your furry lifelong friend. Check with my foster to arrange a Meet and Greet. I'll have my bags packed for that day. If you would like to meet me, the first step is to complete the Humane Association of the Lowcountry (HAL) Adoption Application located on the HAL website. Story
Willoughby Tucker's Story You NEED to meet Willoughy Tucker.....and here is why: Willoughby Tucker made quite the entrance—showing up one evening while one of our fosters was feeding her porch kitty. Without hesitation, he ran right up, started purring, and asked to be held. It was clear from the very beginning: this boy belongs with people. After checking with neighbors and local shelters and finding no one searching for him, it became obvious that Willoughby was ready for a fresh start—a forever home where he’ll be cherished and never left behind again. And the best part? He arrived completely “ready-made.” Willoughby is friendly with everyone—cats, dogs, and humans alike. He loves to play chase and wrestle with his feline friends, and his purr motor rivals a Harley. When he’s not playing, he’s happiest curled up in your lap or snuggled in bed at night. Willoughby is wonderfully social and will wander the house trilling and chirping, looking for someone to love or a buddy to play with. He’s a big fan of wand toys and could spend hours perched on a windowsill, watching the world (and birds) go by. If you picture the perfect orange tabby—friendly, affectionate, playful, and full of personality—you’re picturing Willoughby. Somehow, he chose just the right porch that night… and now he’s ready to choose his forever family. Could it be you? He will bring a cat’s joy and peace to your life. Are you ready to meet him and decide that he is purrrrrfect for you????? His bags are packed, and he is ready to go to your home for a Meet and Greet. If you would like to meet him, the first step is to complete the Humane Association of the Lowcountry (HAL) Adoption Application located on the HAL website. Story
Kasha is looking for a new home. Could it be yours? Kasha (orange tabby) and Bahstet (black and white tuxedo) are a bonded pair who came into my life as Tart and Tang in February, 2024. Kasha is 3 years old. From the beginning, it was clear that she was sensitive, observant, and cautious cats—more the quiet watcher than the bold explorer. I knew when I adopted her that she was skittish and reserved, and I was completely prepared to love her exactly as she was. Kasha shows a marked comfort around women, including my girlfriend and even female strangers, and they have surprised us with how affectionate and relaxed they can be in those moments. Unfortunately, she is fearful of men in general, and especially men in uniform—which has been a challenge, as I am active duty in the Marine Corps and will remain so. Even the universal magic of Churu hasn’t fully bridged that gap. Despite this, Kasha is healthy, fully up to date on vaccines, and wonderfully well-adjusted in many other ways. She does great with other cats and even dogs and seems to genuinely like dogs, which is not something you see every day. Kasha is gentler and more reserved, but she has a very specific key to her heart: a little bit of outside time. A patio or balcony is perfect. A few minutes outside in the morning and evening makes a world of difference. With that small routine, Kasha will come out, join the “Churu party,” and sit in the living room with us. Without it, she tends to retreat and hide. She knows what she needs, and when she wants something she will say something. You’ll often find her curled up with her sister, sharing beds, shelves, drawers, or any cozy nook they can claim as their own. The photos capture this perfectly: whether tucked into a drawer, nestled under furniture, or perched together observing the room, they move through life as a team. Kasha will bring a cat’s joy and peace to your life. Are you ready to meet her and decide that she is purrrrrfect for you????? Her bags are packed, and she is ready to go to your home for a Meet and Greet. If you would like to meet her, the first step is to complete the Humane Association of the Lowcountry (HAL) Adoption Application located on the HAL website.
