Story
Julia’s striking brindle coat may turn heads, but it’s her big heart and joyful personality that truly win people over. She is an affectionate, goofy girl with a very puppy-like spirit who loves being part of the action. Julia enjoys cozy cuddle time in front of the TV (even if she sometimes forgets just how big she is), but she’s always ready to spring back up for her favorite game—fetch! Energetic and playful, Julia would thrive in an active home that enjoys outdoor fun. She loves running, jumping, friendly wrestling, and chewing on toys, especially ones she can really get her teeth into. She’s also a fan of car rides and happily hops in for adventures. Julia is incredibly sweet with people of all ages and has been wonderful with kids. She’s very intelligent and food-motivated, already knowing “sit” and often offering it automatically in hopes of earning a treat. With continued training, she has great potential to learn even more. On leash, Julia can be a bit excitable, but her treat motivation makes her a good candidate for training. She’s also learning that going outside in colder weather is worth it—having a human companion helps her feel more confident and successful with potty breaks. Julia has done well with male dogs and enjoys canine companionship, but she would do best as the only female dog in the home, as she has shown reactivity toward other adult female dogs. With the right environment and structure, Julia will be a loyal, loving, and fun companion for a lucky family ready to match her energy and enthusiasm for life. Julia was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas.  Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  ##2629570##

Story
MEET CHAI! Chai is a 3-year-old, 53-lb Catahoula mix who is as sweet and affectionate as they come. This handsome boy truly loves being close to his people and feels happiest when he can see what his humans are up to.Chai prefers not to be left alone and does best when his crate is set up in a room where he can feel included—he just wants to be part of the family. He’s a smart, eager-to-please pup who already knows sit, down, and even an adorable “play dead” trick! He’ll also spin in a circle on a hand signal and enjoys showing off his skills, especially when food is involved.Chai appears to be house trained and gets along well with other dogs of all sizes. He’s playful and would love a dog buddy who actually wants to romp and play with him. He likes kids and has not yet been tested with cats.On leash, Chai can be a bit of a puller, but with consistency and positive reinforcement (especially treats!), he should improve quickly. If you’re looking for a loyal, people-loving companion with brains, personality, and a big heart, Chai is your guy. Located in Houston, TX Transport available to most states for a $300 fee

Story
Will chase balls, give cuddles, and greet you like a rockstar every day. I am a Catahoula mix with movie star eyes, good manners, and a heart made of cheese-flavored treats. I am the perfect combo of playful and snuggly—and I am on the hunt for a forever home that matches my vibe: active, loving, and peaceful (with zero screaming toddlers, please and thank you). General Socialization Notes: I would really love a home where my humans will train and work with me. I am very ready to learn and I am very smart. I'd love walks to get out my energy and I'd also love nose work and training where I am working and using my brain. I would do well as an only dog or with another dog. I'd really enjoy lots of adventures too! I'm a good boy waiting for my forever family! Does Duke like other animals? I do fine with other dogs. I do like calm dogs and do not really like the pushy ones. I would do best in a home without cats. Does Duke like children? I would do best in a home with older children. Children 12 years old and older would be best for me. Favorite Toys: I love FETCH!! I'd play all day. I also love to show off my toys and carry them around. Ideal Forever Home: I'd love a calm, peaceful home. I'd enjoy daily walks and a nice back yard would be nice. No small children, please. I am ready to fetch your heart with my heartfelt poem: I chase the ball, I bring it back, I wait for you with toy in stack. I'll walk with you, I'll nap just right, I'll cuddle close each peaceful night. Just promise me your calm and care, And in return—I'll always be there. I can't wait to meet you!

Story
Apollo is a great protector. He is great with kids, just not other animals. We adopted him from the humane society 2 1/2 years ago but after a house fire, he has been several places which has been extremely hard on him. I think he also was badly abused by a man because even though he does not care for men; especially ones with things in their hands, he has made up to a few that have patience to be in his area. He needs to be a 1-2 person dog ,couple or single,he’s been in training sessions ,he knows commands,I thought i would be his forever home but unfortunately he is more aggressive now due to stress and uncertainty of moving which is why he needs a firm hand but gentle approach with someone patient and understanding. He did like a female German shepherd that I pet sat after a couple of times, however she was his size, about his age, she had the patience of a saint so it worked for them. **His adoption paperwork says he’s part lab.. vet says actually may be part Pit too.
