Story
Meet Loner! This two year old hound mix is a medium sized, fun size `just right` kind of guy! He`s full of quiet sweetness and so much untapped potential. He came to us skinny and from a hoarding situation, where life was crowded and chaotic, and human connection wasn`t something he really got to experience the way he should have. Because of that, he`s still learning what it means to be a loved and cared for doggie. He has that classic hound charm, a curious spirit, a love for exploring, and a playful side that peeks out more each day as he gains confidence. He makes the staff crack up laughing with his goofiness when playing with other dogs. He`s ready for a fresh start. All he`s missing is the person who will show him what home is supposed to feel like. With his unique look and quiet charm he`s ready to find a forever home! Come and meet Loner today and feel your heart warm!Come meet Loner at Anderson County PAWS, we`re open 12-5pm (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, and Sat)

Story
Meet Dobby, a lovable, smart, and energetic pup who’s ready for his next big adventure! As a graduate of the Leash on Life Prison Pup Program, Dobby comes with some impressive credentials. He’s mastered his Canine Good Citizen training, acing skills like loose-leash walking and coming when called. Just beware—his hound instincts are strong, and if he catches the scent of a deer, all bets are off! This handsome Plott Hound mix weighs in at 60 pounds and is full-grown. He’s neutered, up to date on all his shots, and microchipped, ready to join his forever family. Born on 12/31/17, Dobby is a mature pup with the perfect balance of energy and relaxation. Dobby is highly food-motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding for both him and his handler. He’s learned a variety of commands, including “sit,” “stay,” “come,” “heel,” “high five,” “peek-a-boo,” and even “relax.” One of his signature tricks? Giving a high-five with both paws! He loves mental stimulation and is always eager to learn new things, especially if snacks are involved. Dobby is great with all people and other dogs—they call him the “Ambassador to Dogs” and is first to greet new arrivals into the program. However, due to his hound nature, cats are a no-go. While Dobby may seem standoffish at first, he’s a cuddle bug at heart and loves snuggling up at bedtime. This loyal, intelligent, and loving dog would thrive in a home with a fenced-in yard, where he can run, explore, and sunbathe. Dobby is housetrained and accustomed to plenty of exercise, so he’ll need an active family to keep up with his adventurous spirit. He may need a little time to acclimate to new surroundings, but with patience—and a few tasty treats—he’ll settle in just fine. If you’re an outdoorsy type looking for a loyal companion to join you on your adventures, Dobby could be your perfect match! Ready to meet your new best friend? Dobby is waiting! *************************************************************************** This pet comes with an implanted 24 PetWatch microchip and free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service. *************************************************************************** This dog is available for adoption at the Humane Society of McCormick County for an adoption fee. Story
+Plotthound+2 yrs old; 37lbs+Little shy and meek but gaining her footing daily. Very dog social and happy to give us kisses! Our pretty brindle lady PETAL is acting a bit like a delicate petal as she works to settle in and find her new normal, but in the big picture, she`s doing a terrific job.   Shy and meek and a bit darty,  she`s made huge strides in leash walking and her confidence level as she explores and checks out our facility is growing exponentially.  She has a very bouncy, confident teen pup as her roommate who is showing her that it`s all OK and for her first round of pics,  imagine how gratifying it was when she relaxed on her side looking for belly rubs.  YES!!  Petal is very dog social and perhaps would benefit from having a 4 legged friend in her new home.   Mild mannered and gentle natured,  she`s starting to kiss us, nuzzle us and even her tiny, micro nub of a tail is wiggling with contentment.  Petal has previously lived a very underserved life so imagine the difference YOU can make in her life by adding her to your family.  Ask for Petal today!

Story
*Plotthound*8 mos old; 23lbs (very thin)*Very sweet, kind, polite, loving girl. Dog social. Mom is Petunia. `She`s adorable.` `Oh, my goodness.  I love her.  So kind and gentle and snuggly plus.`  `Friendly and welcoming,  I love her slender little frame and more pointy nose.`  `She`s so cute and a favorite of mine.  She`s easy to walk and she kisses me a lot.`   Just a few notes of endorsement on our prettiest of brindle girls PANSY!  Pansy is super sweet, kind, very gentle in her ways and so easy going and mild mannered.  She led a more challenging lifestyle and arrived very waiflike.    She`s made herself at home and her chin is up, she`s adding some pounds to her frame and she`s ready for you!  She`s a bit meek/overwhelmed (for now) in play groups but she`s definitely dog social.   We feel she`ll rise to the occasion and get into the play group mode as we continue to include her in this enriching program.  Here with her mom PETUNIA,  she is the spitting image of her and truly,  the apple has not fallen far from her momma as Petunia has the same incredible, gentle vibe as well.  Come see Pansy and while you`re at it, Mom Petunia.

Story
*Plotthound*7 yrs old; 38lbs (thin)*Very sweet, gentle, peaceful lady. Dog social. Here with her daughter, Pansy.Check out her soulful eyes and that kindest of smiles and bet you can feel seeping through the page the bestest of doggies!  We call her PETUNIA and she is honestly the sweetest and most kind lady, ever.  Having led a more challenging life, she arrived a little thin, meek, scared and downtrodden but she`s made a 360 and what a joy it is to have her by your side.  Our chill, very peaceful, middle aged lady slowly goes about her business and if you wait a wee bit,  while seated in a chair, her adorable little chin will come to a comfortable rest right in your lap.  Petunia (for now) is feeling a little overwhelmed in doggy play groups but we feel she`ll get into the play group mode as she settles into her new normal. She`s definitely dog social.  Petunia is graced with a soft, gentle feel/aura, is very easy to walk/manage and she draws comfort in relaxing and simply being near her person.  Never pushy or overbearing,  Petunia is as lovely outside as she is inside.   She is here with her daughter, Pansy (8mos old) who is nearly identical to her momma in looks and also personality.   Do come and check out Petunia and while you`re at it,  Pansy as well!
