He is five years old and is 65 pounds of playful perfection! He has the most wonderful endearing optimism about him that you just have to experience for yourself. Jake recently had a weekend away from the kennel and we are excited to share all we learned about him. House-trained and crate-trained, Jake aims to please! He absolutely loves his toys (plushies are his favorite). Jake is a fan of meaty treats and knows several commands too! Jake rides well in the car and does well on leash with a capable handler. After he's done patrolling the yard (fenced-in yard preferred), you'll often find him lounging on the couch napping. After all-it's exhausting keeping the yard free from pesky critters! At the end of the day, Jake sleeps quietly through the night. Based on our evaluation, we feel he will do well in and active, but predictable home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. He may have the ability to live with another dog, but would most likely be happiest as an only pet. A home free of cats and small animals is required. Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee.
