Hiya, I'm Dusty and Let me tell you a few things about myself! I am a 1-year-old Plott Hound mix (best guess) with a playful and active personality. My adoption fee is lower because someone sponsored me in honor of the dog-loving Libby for her birthday. So, you can have me as you new BFF for only $85.00.  I tend to be a little bit unsure of new people, but once we spend some time together I'm fine. I love the outdoors and would make a great camping or fishing buddy. I LOVE food and would do anything for a treat (so I'm a great candidate for training). I am good on a leash and don't pull too much, I like to look back if the leash gets tight to let you catch up. I'm quite the goofy guy too and enjoy playing and being near my people. I'm a little picky about other dogs so a meet and greet with another dog is a must.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Lenox is a brindle Plott Hound/Mixed Breed whose estimated DOB is 10/26/2022. He's a sweet boy who is treat/food motivated! He is a happy boy looking for his new family. Lenox loves everyone, especially kids. He would make a great camping buddy-he absolutely loves walks. He is crate trained and house trained as long as you pay attention. He really loves dog beds, fluffy blankets, and car rides. He could use a little more training on jumping when he gets excited. When Lenox was in a cold weather foster care, he spent time with 3 cats. Foster mom reported that he like to annoy them but wasn't mean to them. Foster mom also said Lenox was energetic with her dogs but also submissive to her older female dog. She also said he has his own way of playing ball. Come meet this sweetheart at the Haven, seven days a week from 9a-4pm.All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open from 9am-4pm, seven days a week. A friend was leaving a domestic abuse situation and had to leave quickly. Humanity Society couldn’t take dog due to being over capacity and she had no one else to take her. We can’t keep her due to moving. But told her we can keep her to until we find her a good home.

Alexander is a handsome 7-year-old Pit Bull/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix. We originally rescued him as a baby in 2017, and he found a wonderful home shortly after! Sadly, 5 years later, his owner's health declined and he was brought back to us. Alex was so well-loved and treated like a little prince. He is a pro at eating treats and making his people laugh. He is a little shy with new people and will take some time to warm up, but once he does he is very loyal! The only thing Alex asks for in his future home is that he be your only child. He was so happy in his previous home as the only child that he craves all the attention for himself. We promise he will give you so much love back! He is missing the feeling of having a home and would love to find one again.

As a 2-year-old Catahoula mix, Nikko's got loads of energy and will make a fun companion! He is protective of his people and skeptical of strangers. We know there is a place for him to reach his full potential and live his best life! He is sweet with the people he trusts and is a precious angel baby who leans into you, loves neck and chest scratches, and will look deep in your eyes. He does great with other dogs and even goes to our play groups! He would do best in a home with no children, as he is already nervous with new people. He is very loyal to his people and will make a wonderful companion for someone willing to put in the work to win his heart!
