Dobby is a 1 - 2 yr old male Plott Hound mix. He has a high energy level, so he would benefit from an active family with a fenced yard and plenty of space for daily exercise and play. He is loose and wiggly when greeting, and likes to sit by his person for snuggles and kisses. Dobby does moderately pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, he should be walking like a champ in no time! He is food motivated and knows the command sit. He mixes well with other dogs in a kennel, but is afraid of cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Have you seen my Eeyore?? I mean, searching all over and he seems to be hiding from me!! Tigger is the name and I do NOT bounce on my tail but honestly, my tail is LONG enough to accomodate me :) I was found with my friend, Honey, left on a country road alone and scared we were. A towel, bowl of water and some food were left for us but we were still out on a country road with NO HOPE!! So, I failed to mention that our "owner" left us on a road, less than 1 mile from the rescue............. SO, you know what happened, right?? Those rescue people saw us, as they were leaving from the rescue, and..... YOU GUESSED IT!!! They SAVED US!! We are the sweetest and nicest pair, we love our people now and no we don't have to be adopted together:) I am a happy happy guy, love to play and run and hang out and PLAY. I am a young and healthy guy, will make someone a great buddy- fun for life!! If you want a loving buddy and a happy life... ADOPT ME!!! SO MANY LIVES DEPEND ON ADOPTION!!
