He arrived at the shelter as a well-cared-for healthy stray. What a shock that he was not reclaimed! He obviously knows his business and wants to get to it.  Did you know that Plott hounds are the state dog of North Carolina? Wouldn’t you think every Plott hound would have a home to go to in North Carolina because of that history? Sadly, it doesn’t work that way. This boy is a couple years old and would sure like to be anywhere but in the shelter. If plot hounds are your thing, maybe you should consider coming to meet this one! 434.821-4416.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2024, 5:27 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Mallard. I am a very loving Retriever/Plott hound mix who enjoys snuggling on the couch and watching TV. I enjoy walks and do well on a leash. I am eager to please, but I do jump sometimes when I get excited. I will sit and do basic commands when instructed. I love everyone of all ages. I have never met a stranger! I am very gentle and was raised with kids and other dogs. I am doing excellent with my potty training in the house. I will have that completely down in no time! Everyone said I am very handsome! I have the cutest brindle coat that is really soft, and I enjoy when it is brushed. I would love to share some adventures with you. If you pick me then this handsome fella will only bring you lots of love, snuggles, and fun! My fee is $200.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/. The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care. Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy. We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter. CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract. CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it. April 26, 2024, 12:39 pm

Beaux is a happy short tail wagging boy. He is high energy and would do well with training, he is smart and willing to learn. He is almost 2 yrs. old and approx. 50 lbs. He has a fondness for chickens but not in a good way so a fenced yard is a requirement for this boy, and a home without farm animals. He is good with most other dogs. Story
We got Ben when he was 8 weeks old from his mommy. Her owners were friends of ours so we knew she was well taken care of and he was born in a safe place. Ben has grown into a very energetic boy who loves to run, jump and bark. He starts off with a traditional bark but after a little bit you can hear him start to use his hound howl. He will let you know when it is time to go outside but don’t expect him to stay long if it is raining or snowing. He currently lives in a house with two children under 10, an elderly dog and a cat. He wants to play with someone who has his level of energy and so they don’t always see eye to eye. I think Ben would do best in a situation where he was the only dog, or the oldest, and with a young family.

Story
Hi there, friend. Are you looking for a super sweet, super cute, mellow pup to fill your home with love and soulful baroos? Well, my name is Sunjoy and I know that I check off each one of those boxes! I am an 11 year old Plott Hound that is looking for a home with a good sunny spot to snooze in. I came to SVASC when my person could unfortunately no longer care for me, but thankfully, I quickly moved in with my pawsome foster dad, who has been taking great care of me and giving me all of the love since I arrived at his house, but he keeps telling me that there's a special someone out there for me and oh man, am I excited to meet that someone! I hope that they know how to give me the best ear rubs and that they don't mind if I stretch out on the couch! I am house-trained and am a very tidy gal! I am also superb on leash and almost never pull (unless I spot a snack on the floor; then all bets are off.) I am great with other dogs and am even good around kiddos! I have lost my hearing in my old age, but that's quite alright because it hasn't slowed me down any. My adoption fee is $175, which covers all of my vetting. If you would like more information on me, please give SVASC a call at (540) 943-5142, email SVASC at ewiles@co.augusta.va.us. I am currently in foster care, so please call ahead and ask about Sunjoy!
