Story

Molly is a five-year-old, 28-lb Portuguese Podengo who is so sweet and gentle. She was found as a stray and never claimed, so we don’t know anything about her background. She has a very cute personality and is so affectionate. She is very easy to walk and seems to be housebroken. She loves curling up in a fleece blanket surrounded by her stuffed toys. She does not like either of the male dogs currently at the Shelter, so she should be the only dog in her next home. Molly is spayed and vetted, so she is ready to join her forever home. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash. With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both. All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we only have two employees. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.

Zuca here! If you want someone to cuddle up on the couch with you, I might just be the right dog for you. Although I like to play around, snuggling is a major priority. Oh, and I do like butt scratches. They are my favorite. Walking on a leash is second nature to me, and I take it very easy for my walks. I tend to like to take some breaks and lay down for some belly rubs mid walk. I’m a little bit older than some of the other dogs here, being 5.5 years old, and weighing 52lbs. My life was forever changed when I was found abandoned in the woods in Portugal. Thankfully Bring Portuguese Podengos to Light took me into their care. I do take a bit of time before becoming comfortable with strangers though, and you would need to take it very slow with me to earn my trust and affection. Please think about adding me to your family even though I am a bit shy, it’s nothing against you, it’s just what I’ve experienced in my life before being rescued. Hey! I’m called Peach, I love to be picked up if you can carry 32lbs of pure love. I’m only 8 months old, and I’m learning at such a fast pace. Shortly after arriving at Fast Friends, I was diagnosed with meningitis, and had to be rushed to the emergency room to undergo all sorts of tests. Everyone that handled me, told me that I was such a brave little girl and did well with all the exams they had to do. I was in a foster home for my recovery, which didn’t take me long! Being back at Fast Friends and having a blast with all my friends is great, but I really would rather love to have fun with you in your home! I’m truly just as sweet as a peach! Consider adopting me in your pack, as I would make a great addition into any family dynamic. Hello! My name is Diva, I am 10 months old, and I weigh approx. 28lbs. Let me tell you a little about myself. I was flown a distance from my homeland in Portugal, to have a better chance of adoption here in the US. To be honest, the language around here is kind of weird, but I’m getting used to the weird words, like “sit”. I’m always very excited to meet anyone, I love playing wit other dogs during playtime and for sure would be great company for long walks. Like any puppy, I still need some basic manners, but aim to please! Be careful though, I’m quick and could steal that yummy treat out of your hand in a blink of an eye. I could grow up to be a wonderful family dog, that will love you forever. Please take a moment to think about adopting me! Mr. Tilly is a 12lb, exceptionally shy pup looking for a home who will help him adjust to a new life. Please read his entire bio before reaching out to the shelter. He is looking for an adult home only. Due to Mr. Tilly's shy personality, he is looking for a quiet home environment, and would not be suited to large apartment complexes at this time. He will require multiple meets at the shelter with patient, adult adopters able to visit him at WARL before he is ready to go to a new home. In his case, his shyness and fear of new people could cause him to snap at people who reach out to touch him before he is ready. Mr. Tilly is looking for a home as an only dog. This shy guy is looking for just the right fit, in a quiet home with gentle people who can appreciate how tough it can be to be left wandering, as he was found as a stray in Worcester with no owner coming forward to claim him. Mr. Tilly has trouble bonding with new people, but is lovely with the staff who care for him. He does not want to be petted or picked up by new people, just given some space to observe and relax without being overwhelmed by attention. Mr. Tilly does have complex medical needs that will require an adopter able to provide him with ongoing veterinary care. Once Mr. Tilly makes friends, he is very sweet and bouncy, and needs folks who understand dog body language and also don't require a dog to instantly adore them.
