My dog has persistent health issues that I can’t afford to treat at the vet. She’s suffering from severe allergies that cause her skin to itch. I don’t have the time to provide her with the care she needs. Despite her loving and kind nature, she’s a great companion who sleeps with me and enjoys walks. She loves steak and is a good eater. I’m a young woman in college studying accounting. Balancing my studies and taking care of my dog is challenging. I’ve tried to manage her care, but it’s been difficult to find time for both. I thought getting her a new home would be easy, but it’s been a constant struggle with her skin issues. I want her to find a loving and caring home where she’ll have the time and attention she deserves. She’s good with kids and is very affectionate. She’s slept with me most of her life and doesn’t bark excessively.

*Julio has IVDD and a significant heart condition, and is a special medical needs dog. Meet Julio, one of those little guys who seems to collect friends everywhere he goes!Julio is an incredibly sweet, social little soul who adores people and has happily befriended all of our volunteers and staff. If there’s an available lap, Julio would very much like to be in it. He loves cuddles, attention, and simply being close to people. He’s also friendly with other animals, including dogs and may do wonderfully with kids. Julio rides well in the car. This past weekend, Julio had a very important job as a WARL ambassador at Pet Rock, and he absolutely loved it! He calmly greeted person after person and even made some unusual new friends, including alpacas and rabbits. Julio took the whole adventure in stride, happily soaking up all the attention.Julio does have medical needs that may require ongoing and potentially costly care, so his future family will need to be prepared to provide for him. He’s a very friendly, happy, healthy dog who loves people and is always excited about life. He has endless energy and curiosity, so he’ll need an active household that’s ready to keep up with his adventures. Todd loves toys, getting into everything, and generally being a happy little agent of chaos. His favorite place is probably your lap—preferably while smushing his face directly into yours. He has a habit of launching himself onto laps unexpectedly, so you’ve been warned! 😂 When it comes to other dogs, he’s selective. He can get into scuffles, particularly if he thinks another dog is getting too much of his person’s attention, so he should be the only pet in the home, and that includes cats. He does not like cats. Todd can get over enthusiastic with his toys and doesn't want always want to give them up. For that reason, he should probably not live with young children. He can be a little anxious and may show it by whining or howling, especially during transitions like after meals. He also likes to announce exciting things and unfamiliar noises with plenty of barking. But even when he’s feeling unsure, he’s always ready for the next adventure. He’s still working on his house training, but with his happy personality, love of people, and endless enthusiasm for life, this guy has so much potential to be someone’s very best friend. 🐾 Meet Choco — 11 Pounds of Sweetness, Snuggles & “Please Approach at My Speed.” 🐾 Choco is a 1-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing about 11 pounds, and he has learned that the world can be a pretty overwhelming place. He’s not the guy who will immediately run up to a stranger for a belly rub. Instead, Choco prefers to check you out from a safe distance, gather some data, and decide when you’ve earned the privilege of his friendship. 😂 Once he trusts you, though? Game over. This little guy is an absolute love. He has chosen his foster mom as his safe place and is rarely more than a couple of feet away from her. He follows her everywhere, sleeps with her, snuggles against her all night, gives kisses, and eventually becomes a playful, happy little guy. In other words, once you're officially Choco-approved, you've got yourself a BFF and a very adorable personal shadow. ❤️ Choco needs someone who understands that trust is earned, not rushed. He can be scared around new people, particularly men, and takes longer to warm up to them. He needs people who will let him come to them rather than reaching for him. Slow, gentle introductions are important. He also does best with dogs his own size. It took him about a week of short, gradual introductions before he felt comfortable joining his foster dog pack—and once he did, he settled in beautifully. Choco is also easily startled by loud or unexpected noises and movements: barking dogs, garbage trucks, fireworks, wind, sudden movements, raised voices, loud sighs – BUT, over a little time, he gets used to those particular noises and does much better. Especially when reassured he is safe. This is a dog who would like his world served with a side of peace and quiet, please. Because of this, he’d likely do best in a home without small children or dogs much larger than himself (around 20–25 pounds or more). A quieter, more peaceful environment would be ideal, as busy city life or apartment living might be a bit too overwhelming for him. He tends to dart, so a well fenced-in yard is a must, plus he LOVES to run around. Grimm is a 2 year old pocket sized pup looking for a comfy lap to cuddle up in. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Clocking in at 35lbs, he is perfectly portable and looking for his forever home.Grimm loves to go for car rides, walks, chewing on bones and spending his days with his people.Grimm does well with dogs he knows, but he does play rough! He is dog-selective and has a bit of Napoleon syndrome. He does best with controlled introductions to others that can match his energy level, and not over correct or escalate in play.Grimm is house and crate trained, and walks well on a leash. He can be possessive of food and toys, so should eat alone and always be monitored around other dogs if toys are out. He has been patient and avoidance of babies and toddlers, but like any dog should always be supervised. Meet Oreo! This lively, determined boy has been friendly with new people at the shelter and loves to zoom around. He is a bit of an escape artist!Oreo will be a great companion for a household with active adults/teens but looking for a home without younger kids. He may do best living as an only dog, but could make dog friends to visit. Oreo has not had the opportunity to be house trained due to unfortunate circumstances but he`s a smart guy and we think he is capable of learning.Oreo has spent a little time around cats and seemed ok with them.
