Story
Meet McDreamy – the 10-pound drama king with a heart of gold and just one eye, but twice the attitude. 👑🐾 At just 3 years old, this Chihuahua isn’t here to win any popularity contests—unless the judges are made of treats and patience. McDreamy is what we affectionately call a “reactive extrovert”: he has big feelings about strangers, and he’s not shy about voicing them. Loudly. With flair. In public. (You may want to bring sunglasses and pretend you don’t know him at first.) But here’s the plot twist—he’s easily bribed. A handful of treats are magic. Let’s break it down: • 🍖 Barky at new people? Yes. • 🫶 Easily won over with snacks? Absolutely. • 🐶 Pushy with some dogs? A bit, yeah—he’s got main character energy. • 😇 Sweet and loyal to his person? To the moon and back. • 👁️ Recently had one eye removed and the other cherry eye repaired? Yep—he’s a medical glow-up in progress! McDreamy is recovering like a champ, rocking his new cyclops look with pride. He might come off spicy at first, but once you’re in his circle of trust, he’s a total mush—snuggly, loyal, and full of love. So if you’re looking for a dog who keeps things interesting, thrives with structure and snacks, and is part tiny body, part big personality, McDreamy is ready to make you his one and only. 🎬❤️ If you are interested in finding out more about McDreamy, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog McDreamy is in Millbury, MA. The adoption fee is $450. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Introducing Buster – the tiny, toothless, totally terrific senior sidekick you didn’t know you needed! At nearly 15 years young, Buster may be technically a “senior,” but don’t even think about calling him old. This pint-sized gentleman still trots around the 1-mile loop at his foster home like he’s leading a parade. He’s got pep in his step, wisdom in his eyes, and a very strong opinion about people food (namely: yes, please, more of it). Here’s what makes Buster a certified catch: 🛋️ Couch connoisseur – He adores naps and uses his doggy stairs like a pro to get on and off the couch. It’s his throne, and he reigns with sleepy dignity. 🚶‍♂️ Walk enthusiast – He happily does his daily stroll and will remind you that age is just a number (and also a state of mind). 🐾 Social butterfly – Great with other dogs and all humans, from toddlers to grandmas. He hasn’t met any cats recently, but we’d bet he’d just blink at one and go back to napping. 🚫 Not a fan of stairs – Full staircases? Nah. But a few steps to the deck? He’s got that covered like a champ. 💔 Toothless wonder – After having 23 teeth removed, he’s all about soft snacks now. Combine that with his heart murmur and he’s basically a plush toy with a pulse. 🙉 Deaf but delightful – He can’t hear you open the fridge, but somehow still shows up exactly when the cheese comes out. Coincidence? We think not. He’s mostly house-trained and will keep things tidy as long as he gets a few regular potty breaks. Buster is the full package—snuggly, polite, easygoing, and just the right amount of quirky. If you’re looking for a mellow, lovable, snack-motivated best friend who won’t judge your TV choices or hog the covers (too much), Buster’s your guy. 🐶💤🍗 If you are interested in finding out more about Buster, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Buster is being fostered in Shrewsbury. Story
This sweet 10-year-old, 7-pound Chihuahua has been through more than most dogs ever will — rescued from a hoarding situation, she had a tangerine size cancerous tumor removed (with clear margins!), lost most of her teeth, and dropped half her body weight. But through it all, she’s come out the other side with a gentle spirit and a love for life. Despite everything, she is calm, affectionate, and happiest when snuggled up next to her human. She’s not a barker — but don’t be fooled, she knows how to voice her opinions. When she wants food, cuddles, or attention, she’ll treat you to some impressively dramatic whining until her needs are met. She gets along well with dogs of all sizes and is perfectly content coexisting with children. She doesn’t actively play with kids but is patient and tolerant when they’re around or interacting with her. She’s mostly housebroken but, being tiny with a tiny bladder, she does best with frequent potty breaks. On leash, she’s a pro — always right by your side without getting underfoot. And don’t let her age or size fool you — she keeps up on long walks with her foster sister like a champ. If you’re looking for a quiet (well, unless she wants something), cuddly companion with a resilient spirit and a heart full of love, this little lady is ready to steal your heart. Story
Meet Teddy – The Perfectly Imperfect Pup Looking for His Person! Hey, don’t scroll past—I’m irresistible, and I know it. You could be one click away from meeting your new best friend! I’m Teddy, but my foster mom lovingly calls me Teddy Bear—because I’m 90% cuddle bug and 10% independent-grizzly cub (but don’t worry, it’s the cute kind of grizzly). I’m a delightful mix of independent thinker, smart cookie, and world-class snuggler. If you’re looking for a pup with personality, I’m your guy. At just 4.5 years old, I’m in my prime! I’ve got a full life ahead of me and so much love to give. I’ve been living with my foster mom for a few weeks, and I’ve already learned a lot: • I wait politely for my meals and to be let out. • I’m housebroken (though I may get a little too excited when a new dog friend comes over—oops!). • I’m learning to ask for space when I need it, and to give affection when I want it. My ideal home? An adult-only household that’s calm, patient, and willing to meet me where I’m at. I’d thrive as part of a small pack—either with a mellow, playful dog like me, or a confident cat who isn’t afraid to stand their ground. I’m highly food-motivated and eager to please, so I’ll learn quickly if you’ve got treats and praise! What do I love? • Squeaky toys—yes, please! • Zoomies and games of chase—call me the prancing king or a pint-sized Tigger! • Cuddle time—my favorite spot is on the couch, either at your feet or tucked into your arm. • Crate time—I actually like my crate. It’s my little den, especially with a treat or two in there. I’m not perfect, but let’s be real—who is? I’m someone’s perfect, and maybe that someone is you. Let’s be perfectly imperfect together! A Note from Foster Mom: Like many chihuahuas, Teddy values his independence. He’s learning to communicate clearly when he wants space—he’ll simply look away or avoid approaching. And when he does want affection? You’ll know! In just four weeks, he’s already made huge strides in communication, confidence, and trust. He’s got so much love to give and deserves someone who sees how special he is. Teddy is ready for a family who understands him, honors his boundaries, and lets him blossom at his own pace. If you’re ready to open your heart and home, this sweet, silly, soulful little guy is ready to rock your world. If you are interested in finding out more about Teddy, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Teddy is currently hanging out in Boston, MA. Story
Meet Little Mr. Shamrock! 🍀 This adorable 2-year-old, 9-pound Chihuahua is on the hunt for his forever home. With his big personality and even bigger heart, Shamrock is full of charm—and just a little bit of spunk. Originally found as a stray, Shamrock was adopted and then returned, eventually making his way to Broken Tail. He’s new to his foster home, but he’s already showing his true colors: playful, affectionate, and yes, a little bit stubborn (classic Chihuahua style!). Shamrock loves toys, enjoys spirited zoomies in a fenced yard, and gets along well with the resident dogs. He’s full of energy, but also knows how to settle down and snuggle up next to his foster mom when it's time to relax. Be warned: when Shamrock has something to say, he says it loud and proud—especially if you disappear upstairs without him. Because of this, apartment living might not be the best fit unless your neighbors are fans of vocal performances. He walks great on a leash and would thrive with someone who enjoys daily strolls. A secure, fenced yard is ideal, as this curious little guy has a knack for finding adventure if given the chance. Shamrock isn’t particularly food-motivated, so his ideal person should understand the unique Chihuahua mindset—independent, loyal, and always entertaining. Did we mention he is housebroken? But be aware, he can be a little trip hazard, staying near your legs when you walk in your house. Note that Shamrock does have a bite history involving two individuals, so he’ll need an experienced adopter who’s comfortable working through behavioral challenges. With the right guidance and structure, he has the potential to thrive. If you're ready for a high-energy companion with a huge heart and a whole lot of personality, Shamrock just might be your perfect match. 💚 If you are interested in finding out more about Shamrock, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Shamrock is being fostered in Mansfield, MA. Story
Adopted our pet from Heart and Bones rescue. Archie is 4 years old and an energetic, excitable, and friendly dog. He loves to play fetch, and run around outside. He absolutely loves the dog park. We'd love to rehome Archie to a family that has a decent amount of space to run around (a yard is a plus!). He gets along with children and he loves playing with other dogs, especially big dogs.
