MEET  BIRCH!!! Birch is sweet 2 year-old Pointer/Lab mix. He is timid and shy when meeting new people, but once he warms up, he shows his sweet and wiggly side. He will need a few days in a new home before he will start exploring and feeling more comfortable. Birch seems to warm up to women a little faster then men. Due to his shyness, Birch will need a home that offers him patience and time to realize he is safe and allow him to become a confident young man. Being that he is still a young guy, he does not have a lot of obedience training, however, he walks well on a leash and does not pull. While Birch loves to sleep in his crate and finds comfort in being in it, he is not yet at the point of being closed in. He is food motivated and is already starting to pick up on commands such as sit and lay down. Birch's toys of choice are stuffed animals and not so much on the balls or rubber toys. He does well with other dogs but is not quite at the point of playing yet. He will stand and watch and follow, but is not yet brave enough to romp around with them. He has been tested with large and small dogs and with proper intros, he should do well. Birch has not been around cats or children, but he has spent some time around chickens and has shown some interest in them. He is house trained but has not been tested with a doggy door. He has done really well at telling us when he needs to go out and once we got him on a regular schedule, he has not had any accidents inside. Birch loves to hang out on his dog bed with us and is very excited when dinner time roles around. He also has become quite the avid hiker! He currently gets fed twice a day and goes on evening walks. MEET   ZANE!! Zane is good with dogs of all sizes! Zane has not been introduced to cats, so that is an unknown factor. Zane has been friendly with both males and females, but he does seem to favor females. He is quite friendly and does love affection, but is not overbearing with his attention seeking. Zane would do best in a home with other active medium to large dogs. Zane does have some separation anxiety and does not like to be by himself; he has shown some minor destructive behaviors intermittently. Zane is teachable and responds well to corrective commands, and is doing well with a training collar. Zane will require reinforcement of training and patience while he learns it. Zane loves water and the pool! However, he is not a graceful swimmer in deep water. Zane is very active and playful with other large dogs in foster house; while play can get rough he has not exhibited any aggressive behavior. Zane is great on walks and has not shown any food aggression. Zane has a gentle mouth for treats. He does seem to have minor skin allergies which may require ongoing treatment, but they respond well to medications. He loves chew toys, balls, playing fetch. Zane has been amazing on restaurant patios and social settings ; very nice manners for a big boy! MEET CANNON  !!! This sweet, docile and smart boy is just amazing!! While he's calm and laid back most of the time, when he gets the opportunity to play, he is excitable and full of energy. He'd LOVE another dog to play with!   We recommend an adopter with another dog the same size as Cannon. He will do best without small animals in the home.  Cannon also enjoys walks and would be a great hiking partner.  He is still working on his leash manners and does like to pull a bit so someone that knows how to continue leash training will be helpful. He is a bit car shy but once in, he settles down quickly and is very well behaved. He's already housebroken and knows how to use a doggy door.  He will require a home with a solid block wall...(while he's never tried to jump over one, he can jump high, so a chain link or shorter wall will not work.)  This friendly boy likes everyone he meets--he just loves attention.
