Story
Meet Holstein From fearful… to playful… to ready for home. Holstein’s journey began as a scared young pup, running along a riverbed and golf course, unsure of people and the world around him. When A Way Home For Dogs stepped in, they discovered he was just about 6 months old—still a baby who had never truly known love. Today, Holstein is a completely different dog. He’s grown into a big, goofy, affectionate Great Dane / Pointer mix with a personality that keeps everyone smiling. Known for his “Tigger-like” bounce, Holstein is playful, silly, and full of life. He loves carrying around toys, finding the coziest spot in the house (usually your bed), and showing off his excitement before walks. Perks  Playful, goofy, and full of personality  Loves toys (the squeakier, the better ) Affectionate and loyal once bonded Great walking companion  Keeps life fun and entertaining Needs  Only pet home (no dogs or cats)  Older kids (10+) due to size and energy  Secure handling on leash (no off-leash)  Continued structure and guidance Ideal Home Holstein is looking for a home that has a calm, structured environment. His perfect adopter is patient, committed, and comfortable handling large breeds.  Holstein has come a long way—from a scared puppy to a joyful, loving companion. Now he just needs someone to give him the home he’s been waiting for. If you’re ready for a big, lovable goofball who will keep you smiling… Holstein is your guy. ##1342588##

Story
My name is Fury because of the distance and way I covered ground as a stray.  I was very young (less than a year old) and very scared.  I would spend a few days or weeks in one location and move far away.  They say it would not be credible if there were not photos to prove it!  After a long distance and time I was creatively secured and safe.  No one came looking or claimed me from the shelter so my captor saved me again.  It took some time, but I learned to trust, embraced love and now find friends in people and fur.  At events I am quick to roll over for rubs, will look at you with my gooey eyes and ask for more when you stop.  I enjoy outings on leash and in public.  I LOVE my people and can't wait to greet them or have one on one wth them.  I do struggle when left alone  so need to be supervised, with someone at all times or safely contained (my escapee skills are almost as impressive as is my destruction).  I am all about being honest but have a huge heart and love to give.    They didn't think I'd make it this far but three years later here I am....... Out and about, confident with people and LOVING life, limited as it is in a rescue.  Please give me a chance and I won't let you down. Because of my Flight Risk I cannot be left unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures and my new family must be aware of open doors and windows.  NO offleash activities in unfenced areas for life. Story
Jett is approximately 3 years, around 90 pounds, neutered, fully vaccinated English Pointer breed. He will be crate trained but needs patience with potty & leash training~ soon he will be a pro of all three!! He is affectionate, but can be a bit nervous when first met with unexpected changes. Jett gets along well with most dogs (but we suggest he be paired with a female companion), adults and older children alike. Given his adaptability, he should be able to learn your family’s routine rather quickly and become part of the gang in no time!!! Jett was rescued from a gas station parking lot in Tecate. When found He suffered from ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis. Fortunately he is now healthy & flourishing under the loving care of a foster. (Aug 2025) Jett has a lot of love to give and longs for a family who can provide him patience, affection and attention he craves. He deserves a warm and loving home where he can feel cherished as a member of the family!!!

Story
Marvin is a sweet and noble dog, 1.5 years old and 30 pounds. He was hanging around the shelter for a couple of weeks, he was given food, water and some love, but we decided to take him in when he arrived really injured and covered in blood, we think he was attacked by dogs. Fortunately in his medical checkup he didn't come out with many problems, and he is now healthy and ready for his new home! He knows how to coexist with other dogs, although he has his temper, he is usually very tolerant with effusive puppies. He likes to sleep in his giant bed, is crate-trained, house-trained and is sociable and friendly with new people. He knows how to ride in a car, and smiles when you scold him, he is adorable! We don't know exactly what breed he is, google lens finds a resemblance to an English Pointer and Andalusian ratter. The $350.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to San Diego, CA. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date. Microchip. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Collar. Temporary leash. The adoption fee does not include transportation to North of San Diego

Story
Meet Coral Coral’s story started in survival mode… running scared along a freeway and the surrounding hills, wearing a shiny new harness—but too afraid to understand that people were trying to help - just a puppy. For weeks, she stayed just out of reach. Sightings came in, posts were shared, and people searched… but Coral kept running. Then she disappeared. Three months later, she showed back up—this time without her harness, and even more unsure of the world around her. Kind people put food out, hoping she’d stay. She lingered… then vanished again. Another month passed before Coral returned once more—and this time, she was safely humanely trapped. We waited. Surely someone was missing her.But no one came. The most surprising part?Coral is just a big puppy—and it’s clear that at some point, she was loved. Because once she felt safe… her true personality came bursting through. Coral loves people—especially kids. She’s the one who pushes to the front at events, eager to say hello, soaking up attention like it’s her favorite thing in the world. She’s silly, expressive, a little goofy, and full of life. Her wrinkly brows and bright eyes say everything she’s thinking—and usually it’s something fun. She may have been scared out there on her own… but this girl absolutely knows what it means to be part of a family. Perks   LOVES people, including kids Total trick star—knows: Sit, Down, Shake (both paws), High Five, Wave, Roll Over, Leave It Highly food motivated (will do anything for snacks!) Goofy, playful, and full of personality Expressive face with the best wrinkly brows Thinks life is a party and wants to be part of it - even better if dress up and a tea party are involved Needs   Flight risk – requires secure handling at all times  Must be crated when unattended Solid leash handling (she's a big, lanky girl!) Awareness of doors, gates, and windows is critical No off-leash activity in unfenced areas for life Best as your one-and-only pup Will benefit from structure and continued training Ideal Home Coral is looking for someone who loves a fun, social, people-oriented dog. She would benefit from a home that's committed to continuing her training and refining her manners, as well as have an active lifestyle to match her energy and enthusiasm. Her perfect someone would appreciate a big personality and wants a dog that's truly part of the family. Coral is ready to leave her survival days behind and step fully into the life she was always meant to have… with you. ##1783837##
