UPDATE: Who are the Pointer enthusiasts? Dakota is an energetic individual who loves interacting with other dogs and playing throughout the day. It is surprising that he has been here since May without receiving any applications. I believe the ideal home for Dakota would be an active family with another dog that has similar energy levels, as he is still a puppy and needs training. He walks well on a leash and sleeps through the night in his crate. If you have the patience to work with him, he will make a great companion. Also, he is quite handsome!
Dakota is a 7-month-old Pointer with the heart of a clown and the energy of a working dog. He was raised in a home from puppyhood but was recently returned, not for anything he did wrong, but because his family didn’t have the time a growing pup needs. Now he’s looking for a forever family who gets puppies and is ready to give him the structure, mental stimulation, and love he thrives on.
Dakota is a goofy, lovable dufus who communicates with big body language and an even bigger personality. He’s fully potty trained, does fantastic on a leash, and crates like a champ. He plays loud with joyful barks and playful mouthing but he wouldn’t hurt a fly.
He does amazing with other dogs and loves to play, though he can be a little pushy with smaller animals and may not always recognize his size or strength. With proper introductions and supervision, he can absolutely thrive in a multi-dog home.
Dakota can be a bit nervous around some men at first, but not all! With positive interactions, treats, and a gentle approach, he warms up quickly. Once he knows you’re kind, he’s all in with love and loyalty.
Still a puppy at heart, Dakota is working on his manners and would do best with someone who’s ready to guide him with patience, positive reinforcement, and plenty of mental and physical exercise. He’s incredibly food-motivated and eager to please, making training both fun and rewarding!
Adoption fee is $475
