***Libby is in a foster home, so she is not at the kennel. If you are interested in her, please fill out an application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch. Thank you.*** Who can resist that adorable face! Little Libby is estimated to be about 12 weeks old and weighs 10 pounds right now, but she is sure to grow. Her foster mom has a lot of wonderful things to say about her: She's a typical puppy, very playful and friendly. LOVES kids and other dogs. Libby is still tiny and may stay petite so a home with kids that are old enough to be gentle and dogs that aren't too rough would be best. Crate trained and doing good with house breaking but still has accidents if not let out often. Just starting to work on sit but she's getting it. She can be mouthy and will pounce and bite at your feet, but she likes toys so easy to redirect. She will need a home where any children are at least 4 years old. Libby would love it if you wanted to meet her, she can't wait to grow up with her forever family. Libby is all puppy - curious, playful, entertaining, and a lot of work. He is looking for a forever home that will provide him with the love and guidance he needs. Puppies require and deserve a lot of time and energy, but they will repay their families with a lifetime of unconditional love and happiness. Libby is looking for a family to make a best friend for life! If you are interested in Libby and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
What a happy, handsome pup! Sway is estimated to be about a year old and weighs 43 pounds. Meet Sway, who only wants to be as close to you and is looking for a forever home with a family to love. This young man is a true lover boy, with a calm demeanor and a sensitive spirit. He's the type of pup who leans in giving the best kisses and enjoys nothing more than laying with you, well actually laying on you, soaking up all the attention and love you can give. Sway is well-mannered and eager to please, always wanting to make those around him proud. He already knows 'sit' and 'down,' and will easily relinquish his rawhide. Sway is simply adorable and has a sweetness that draws you in. It would be wonderful if his new family could help build his confidence. He will need a home where any children are calmer and least 8 years old due to his quieter, more sensitive personality. As you can see from his pictures, he was really drawn to one of our volunteer's 13 year old daughter, it was heartwarming to watch. Sway would like it if you came to meet him, he is going to make such a nice family member and he has so much love to give. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Sway would love to meet them. He has a friendly, loose approach with other dogs that moves into an "all in" balanced play. If you are interested in Sway and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. 🐾 Meet Jill! 🐾 Say hello to Jill, a puppy with a permanent wag in her tail and a whole lot of love to give! Jill is the total package: sweet, playful, happy, and an absolute champion cuddler. She’s the kind of pup who greets every day — and every person — like it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to her. 🎾 Playtime Pro Give Jill a toy, a patch of grass, or a willing playmate, and watch her light up. She’s got that classic puppy energy — bouncy, curious, and always up for a game. Her zoomies are pure joy in motion. 🐶 Great with Family and Friends Jill is a natural in a busy household — she does great with kids and gets along well with other dogs too. She’s social, easygoing, and loves having playmates around, whether they’re two-legged or four. 🛋️ Snuggle Champion But don’t let the playful side fool you — Jill is just as happy to wind down. After a good romp, she’ll melt right into your lap (or your whole couch, if you let her) for some serious cuddle time. She’s got a real gift for making people feel loved. 😊 A Genuinely Happy Girl Jill’s sunny disposition shines through in everything she does. She’s easygoing, affectionate, and eager to be wherever her people are. This is a pup who’s going to bring a lot of light into her new home. 💛 Ready to Bring Jill Home? Jill is available for adoption for a fee of $400, which helps cover the cost of her veterinary care. If you’re looking for a happy-go-lucky companion who’s equally ready for playtime or snuggle time (and gets along beautifully with kids and other dogs), Jill might just be your perfect match! 📋 Apply at: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HPH/Dog

Meet Tony! SEE FOSTER UPDATES BELOW! HOUSE-TRAINED AND LOVES OTHER PUPS & KIDS! At six months old and 40 pounds, Tony is one terrific pointer/hound pup who's growing into the perfect adventure buddy! Tony is currently living it up in a fabulous foster home and we are excited to share all we've learned about this loyal and loving boy! Tony is already house-trained and was going through the process of crate-training. He's a lovey-dovey boy who absolutely adores other dogs and kids! He lives with two other pups and young children and does very well with both of them. This fun-loving boy will thrive in an active home with lots of daily exercise, continued training, and a yard to enjoy (tie out or fenced-in required). Tony is a very capable boy and already knows "sit" and "paw," making him a wonderful candidate for training. He loves exploring the world with his nose and has a blast sniffing out all the exciting sights and smells around him. If you're looking for a pal to keep you company on all of your adventures-Tony is your man! When it comes to toys and treats, Tony is appreciative of anything you have to offer. His foster family was able to take both toys and food away with no issue. He has been known to chase a squirrel or two so a home free of cats or small animals would be best. Tony is looking for a family that will help him continue to gain confidence and discover just how wonderful life can be! A home where someone is around during the day or that will include him in daily activities would be best for him. At the end of the day, Tony sleeps quietly through the night. Based on our evaluation, we feel Tony would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. He may have the ability to live in a home with other dogs and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Think he could be the pup for you? Head to greatlakesdogrescue.com and submit your application for our top-notch Tony today!

Larisa A18628140 lb. spayed female, approx 2 years old -This girl came to us pretty timid but is already improving and showing us what a loving girl she is!-She’s an adorable lil peanut who enjoys pets and human interaction-If it’s treats versus toys….toys win out! she’s playful and silly-While she isn’t super food motivated, she will politely show you her “sit”-She has “baby concentrated zoomies” if you can image. Small, tight little bursts 😆-She’s polite on leash walks-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Story
Hi there, I’m Kenco—your future adventure buddy and snuggle partner! My story started in a tough place… I was one of four puppies, along with our mom and dad, who were dumped on the streets of Fort Coffee, Arkansas - an area no dog should ever have to survive in. But thanks to some kind-hearted rescuers, we were saved! Ever since, I’ve been living in a barn-kennel at the farm, anxiously awaiting for my forever family to take me home. Don’t get me wrong, I’m immensely grateful to be safe. But I do dream of couches, belly rubs, toys, and road trips with a family of my very own. I get along great with the other dogs here and have been told I’m super smart and playful! I’m a super handsome red, mahogany & white Hound/Pointer mix who was born around 3/29/23. I weigh in at about 63 pounds of PURE love. I’m neutered, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on all my vaccines & preventatives so I’m ready to roll and just waiting for YOU! I can’t wait to go exploring with you… to learn new things… and most of all - feel what it’s like to be truly loved. So if you’ve got room in your heart and home for a sweet boy like me, please apply to adopt me today! Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. MICHIGAN RESIDENTS—>PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/TAP/2450-michigan-adoption Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications. The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport. Thank you SO MUCH for giving a homeless Arkansas pup a chance at a real life with a family of their very own!
