Story
What a happy, handsome pup! Sway is estimated to be about a year old and weighs 43 pounds. Meet Sway, who only wants to be as close to you and is looking for a forever home with a family to love. This young man is a true lover boy, with a calm demeanor and a sensitive spirit. He's the type of pup who leans in giving the best kisses and enjoys nothing more than laying with you, well actually laying on you, soaking up all the attention and love you can give. Sway is well-mannered and eager to please, always wanting to make those around him proud. He already knows 'sit' and 'down,' and will easily relinquish his rawhide. Sway is simply adorable and has a sweetness that draws you in. It would be wonderful if his new family could help build his confidence. He will need a home where any children are calmer and least 8 years old due to his quieter, more sensitive personality. As you can see from his pictures, he was really drawn to one of our volunteer's 13 year old daughter, it was heartwarming to watch. Sway would like it if you came to meet him, he is going to make such a nice family member and he has so much love to give. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Sway would love to meet them. He has a friendly, loose approach with other dogs that moves into an "all in" balanced play. If you are interested in Sway and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Meet Tony! SEE FOSTER UPDATES BELOW! HOUSE-TRAINED, CRATE-TRAINED, AND LOVES OTHER PUPS & KIDS! At seven months old and 42 pounds, Tony is one terrific pointer/hound pup who's growing into the perfect adventure buddy! Tony enjoyed some time away with a fabulous foster home and we are excited to share all we've learned about this loyal and loving boy! Tony is already house-trained and crate-trained. He's a lovey-dovey boy who absolutely adores other dogs and kids! He lived with two other pups and young children and does very well with both of them. This fun-loving boy will thrive in an active home with lots of daily exercise, continued training, and a yard to enjoy (tie out or fenced-in required). Tony is a very capable boy and already knows "sit" and "paw," making him a wonderful candidate for training. He loves exploring the world with his nose and has a blast sniffing out all the exciting sights and smells around him. If you're looking for a pal to keep you company on all of your adventures-Tony is your man! When it comes to toys and treats, Tony is appreciative of anything you have to offer. His foster family was able to take both toys and food away with no issue. He has been known to chase a squirrel or two so a home free of cats or small animals would be best. Tony is looking for a family that will help him continue to gain confidence and discover just how wonderful life can be! At the end of the day, Tony sleeps quietly through the night. Based on our evaluation, we feel Tony would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. He may have the ability to live in a home with other dogs and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Think he could be the pup for you? Head to greatlakesdogrescue.com and submit your application for our top-notch Tony today!

Story
Meet Huck! This 40-pound pointer mix is two years old and has a dazzling smile that nobody can deny! This impressive pup already knows how to sit and give his paw, and is no doubt capable of learning more. He enjoys a nice face rub and is a fan of all sorts of toys and treats, which he takes gently. Huck is a great balance of cuddly and curious. As he is still a young man, Huck will benefit from daily exercise, continued training and a yard to enjoy in his new home. He enjoys the company of his fellow kennel mates and could make an excellent pal for your family fur baby. He is eager to please and will make the best bud around! Based on our evaluation, we feel Huck would best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. He may have the potential to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Think he could be the guy for you? Head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our handsome Huck!

Story
Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. MICHIGAN RESIDENTS—>PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/TAP/2450-michigan-adoption Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications. The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport. Thank you SO MUCH for giving a homeless Arkansas pup a chance at a real life with a family of their very own!

Story
Meet Dojo. Dojo is a white terrier mix who was born around 1/4/25. He was going to be left behind by his family when they moved, along with a deaf heeler/Corgi male. Both dogs were taken in by a young man who was friends of the young boy of the family who were moving. The family knew of the rescue having reached out for help. . Dojo has gotten along with the 2 dogs that have been long term fosters at his foster home, both females. He has shown himself to be very kind and gentle with puppies. Dojo is a peacemaker. After being attacked by another dog, he later approached her again—gently kissed her and wagged his tail. Now they get along just fine. Dojo is a gorgeous dog with beautiful eyes and he is friendly to people of all ages. He is leash trained, kennel trained, uses the dog door. and has a calm, easy-going personality that makes him a breath of fresh air at the end of a long day. He is a great all around dog with a sweet disposition who needs a family too. He is just simply a good boy. He weighs 48 pounds and current on his vaccines, but he is being treated for heartworms on slow kill method by The Artemis Project, who will continue to provide the medications for the duration of his treatment even if you adopt him so please don't let that stop you. Dojo is so ready to move in and make your life complete! We promise, he will melt your heart with his snuggles and kisses. Please give him a chance to win your heart and become your best friend forever! That forever family he needs… could that be you?
