Story
Meet Colter! 🐾 Breed: Pointer / Cattle Dog Mix Gender: Male (Neutered) Weight: 62 lbs Health: Up-to-date on vaccines, fully healed from a bad broken leg, and ready for action! Personality & Vibe Smart, focused, and full of potential, Colter is a bright guy with a strong drive and a heart of gold. He is the ultimate "working dog" spirit in a handsome 62-pound package. If you’re looking for a partner for outdoor adventures, training sessions, or agility, Colter is raising his paw! When you engage his mind, Colter absolutely shines. He has fantastic recall, learns remarkably fast, and is heavily motivated by treats—though he remains wonderfully polite and non-reactive around food. He loves having a job to do and takes immense pride in doing it well. Home Life & Compatibility Kids: Great with kids! He loves being part of a family dynamic. House Training: Fully house trained and knows the drill. Dogs: Dog selective. With proper, slow introductions, he can do well with the right match, but he’s also content being your one-and-only wingman. Cats: A big NO on felines—cats actually terrify him! A cat-free home is a must. Understanding Colter's Journey Colter previously broke his leg and spent time recovering in a foster home. After resting up and getting a clean bill of health, he returned to us full of built-up energy and ready to make up for lost time! Because he spent weeks on restricted activity, he’s still working on fine-tuning his manners and channeling his enthusiasm. He can display some reactivity in his kennel out of frustration, but he is making tremendous progress every single day. Once he is out of the kennel and working with his human, his focus snaps right to you and his gentle, eager-to-please personality comes through instantly. The Ideal Match Colter will thrive with an active individual, couple, or family who understands high-energy or working breeds. He needs an adopter who will give him mental enrichment, consistent routine, and positive reinforcement training. In return, you’ll get an amazingly loyal, intelligent, and affectionate companion who will gladly be your best friend for life. Ready to give Colter the purpose (and loving home) he’s been looking for? Apply to meet him today! https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FCHO/Dog

Story
Carly came into rescue with her 2 brothers. She had recently given birth. She was very timid at first. When put on a leash she would just pancake to the ground in terror. Now she's still a bit timid but looks forward to getting leashed up for a walk. She is food motivated. Every time she walks, she gets braver. She is making good progress in being socialized. She will need a patient family to teach what it is like to be part of a family.FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. Story
Newton came to FOCCAS with his brother and sister. He is still a little bit timid, but is getting braver all the time. He is excited to go for walks, but nervous about getting a leash put on him. He is learning to walk using a gentle leader since he is a strong boy. He does like to roll over for belly rubs and is treat motivated. He does take treats very gently. He would like to be a buddy to someone who will continue to work with him on his training.FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Sola is one of, if not the easiest, fosterlings I've ever had. She listens well, has good recall, is good on walks, quite laid back (not high energy), and loves her crate. Sola is very affectionate and loves to curl up on the couch with her people or even the cat. She enjoys a leisurely walk, though will tire rather quickly when it's hot out. She's an excellent passenger in the car, does well at the vet and is even good about nail trims. Sola could care less about squirrels or birds so would likely do well around chickens. She does not resource guard her food, toys, people, crate, etc. She seeks reassurance and tends to be quite sensitive to tone of voice and strong emotions, so a calm home without a lot of tension or arguing / yelling is a must. She is so easy to love and deserves a home that is just as special as she is. If you think you're a good fit, please fill out an app and I will be happy to tell you all of the other great things about her that won't fit into a short bio.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. September 3, 2026, 8:16 am
