Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Sola is one of, if not the easiest, fosterlings I've ever had. She listens well, has good recall, is good on walks, quite laid back (not high energy), and loves her crate. Sola is very affectionate and loves to curl up on the couch with her people or even the cat. She enjoys a leisurely walk, though will tire rather quickly when it's hot out. She's an excellent passenger in the car, does well at the vet and is even good about nail trims. Sola could care less about squirrels or birds so would likely do well around chickens. She does not resource guard her food, toys, people, crate, etc. She seeks reassurance and tends to be quite sensitive to tone of voice and strong emotions, so a calm home without a lot of tension or arguing / yelling is a must. She is so easy to love and deserves a home that is just as special as she is. If you think you're a good fit, please fill out an app and I will be happy to tell you all of the other great things about her that won't fit into a short bio.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. August 13, 2026, 12:30 pm

Story
Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. MICHIGAN RESIDENTS—>PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/TAP/2450-michigan-adoption Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications. The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport. Thank you SO MUCH for giving a homeless Arkansas pup a chance at a real life with a family of their very own!

***Libby is in a foster home, so she is not at the kennel. If you are interested in her, please fill out an application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch. Thank you.*** Who can resist that adorable face! Little Libby is estimated to be about 12 weeks old and weighs 10 pounds right now, but she is sure to grow. Her foster mom has a lot of wonderful things to say about her: She's a typical puppy, very playful and friendly. LOVES kids and other dogs. Libby is still tiny and may stay petite so a home with kids that are old enough to be gentle and dogs that aren't too rough would be best. Crate trained and doing good with house breaking but still has accidents if not let out often. Just starting to work on sit but she's getting it. She can be mouthy and will pounce and bite at your feet, but she likes toys so easy to redirect. She will need a home where any children are at least 4 years old. Libby would love it if you wanted to meet her, she can't wait to grow up with her forever family. Libby is all puppy - curious, playful, entertaining, and a lot of work. He is looking for a forever home that will provide him with the love and guidance he needs. Puppies require and deserve a lot of time and energy, but they will repay their families with a lifetime of unconditional love and happiness. Libby is looking for a family to make a best friend for life! If you are interested in Libby and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
What a happy, handsome pup! Sway is estimated to be about a year old and weighs 43 pounds. Meet Sway, who only wants to be as close to you and is looking for a forever home with a family to love. This young man is a true lover boy, with a calm demeanor and a sensitive spirit. He's the type of pup who leans in giving the best kisses and enjoys nothing more than laying with you, well actually laying on you, soaking up all the attention and love you can give. Sway is well-mannered and eager to please, always wanting to make those around him proud. He already knows 'sit' and 'down,' and will easily relinquish his rawhide. Sway is simply adorable and has a sweetness that draws you in. It would be wonderful if his new family could help build his confidence. He will need a home where any children are calmer and least 8 years old due to his quieter, more sensitive personality. As you can see from his pictures, he was really drawn to one of our volunteer's 13 year old daughter, it was heartwarming to watch. Sway would like it if you came to meet him, he is going to make such a nice family member and he has so much love to give. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Sway would love to meet them. He has a friendly, loose approach with other dogs that moves into an "all in" balanced play. If you are interested in Sway and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Meet Dojo. Dojo is a white terrier mix who was born around 1/4/25. He was going to be left behind by his family when they moved, along with a deaf heeler/Corgi male. Both dogs were taken in by a young man who was friends of the young boy of the family who were moving. The family knew of the rescue having reached out for help. . Dojo has gotten along with the 2 dogs that have been long term fosters at his foster home, both females. He has shown himself to be very kind and gentle with puppies. Dojo is a peacemaker. After being attacked by another dog, he later approached her again—gently kissed her and wagged his tail. Now they get along just fine. Dojo is a gorgeous dog with beautiful eyes and he is friendly to people of all ages. He is leash trained, kennel trained, uses the dog door. and has a calm, easy-going personality that makes him a breath of fresh air at the end of a long day. He is a great all around dog with a sweet disposition who needs a family too. He is just simply a good boy. He weighs 48 pounds and current on his vaccines, but he is being treated for heartworms on slow kill method by The Artemis Project, who will continue to provide the medications for the duration of his treatment even if you adopt him so please don't let that stop you. Dojo is so ready to move in and make your life complete! We promise, he will melt your heart with his snuggles and kisses. Please give him a chance to win your heart and become your best friend forever! That forever family he needs… could that be you?
