Story
Say hello to Reaux, a Pointer mix born July 2020. This cutie is looking for her very own home. Reaux loves to be the center of attention and when you are as cute as her, who can blame her? She loves to play outside chasing squirrels, so she would do best in a home with a fenced yard. She LOVES to have all the attention to herself, so she needs to be the only dog in the home. She does not get along with cats. She would enjoy kids that will play with her and help her try to catch those darn squirrels. Overall, Reaux is a very loving girl and cannot wait to find a home that is a perfect match for her! Reaux is kennel trained, will also sleep in dog bed on floor.  She does pretty good on walks, just a little anxious.  Good with bigger kids and adults, needs no other animals in home.   Only really barks to alert…to go inside, outside and while playing with us.   The suggested adoption donation for Reaux is $300. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.  Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page, Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##887382##

Story
Hi! My name is Danica and I am a 2 year old (b. 2022) Pointer mix! I am a very cute girl who was rescued from my hometown in Houston, Texas. I only had minutes to spare when I was rescued, at risk of being euthanized any moment. I used to be a stray and wandered the streets of Houston, causing me to be positive for heartworm and being a mom to multiple puppy litters. But since being adopted, I was on meds (but to me they just taste like treats) to help me with my heartworm and I now feel like a new woman! I love being with my person, my foster mom calls me a Velcro Dog. I get a little nervous when apart from my person, so ideally I would love to live with someone who is home rather often and will want my company all day every day. I am a super sweet girl who just loves to lounge around with others and occasionally play with my foster brother. I am not a fan of being kenneled, but I am house trained. Please bring me into your loving home and you will receive all the love. The suggested adoption donation for Danica is $250, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Zeb joined rescue about two weeks ago. He'd love to tell you about himself! I am very timid and shy when I first meet new people. Once I get to know you.  I am a sweet loving goofball.  I like to fetch inside my my safe home.  When I go outside for walks, the outside world is a big mostly scary to me place.  I don’t think I was exposed to many things as a young man.  When I am comfortable with you inside, I still have just a hint of puppy left in me.  I might jump/or put your fingers in my mouth when I’m excited.  I do not care to be in a crate.  Although I will go in them with little hesitation.  I seem to be house broke.  I don’t have a way of bathroom communication yet.  I just get let out on a fairly regular schedule. I can make it inside without an accident for 8-9 hours.  I do prefer to sleep in a room with people.  I am content on the floor but would probably love to sleep in a person's bed.  I am a known fence jumper.  (4ft) when outside for walks I seem to be timid/scared of car doors, people, and idling cars.  I am getting better when on walks and it does not take as much encouragement for me to keep walking.  I seem to come to my name when I’m not scared. I’m working on sit currently.  My foster family has two cats, and I don’t give them mind.  I don’t have a mean bone in my body.  My reaction is to flee.  I’m also working on car rides. For the most part I’m a quiet dog.  I will bark if someone is entering my home or I see someone outside.  I don’t stand and snoop at the window like my foster sister.  I can also get pretty excited around mealtime.  I seem to share treats and meals fine with the other four legged’s in my foster home.   Zeb is being fostered in Des Moines, Iowa. If you are interested in giving him a permanent home, please complete our adoption application. *Please be sure to read the adoption information page on our website before applying for a dog. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 30, 2026, 4:52 pm

Story
Arrow is a sweet, affectionate boy who settles in quickly and loves being near his people. He’s what we’d call a “velcro dog” once he knows you—happy to follow you around, curl up on the couch, and soak up attention (bonus: he’s a fan of relaxing TV nights). He has a nice balance of energy. He enjoys walks and occasional zoomies, but they’re short-lived and he’s mindful of his surroundings. Most of the time, he’s perfectly content lounging and snuggling.   Training & Behavior Arrow is eager to please and very food-motivated, which makes training a great opportunity to continue building on what he already knows. He currently knows “sit” and has a solid foundation to grow from. Recall: Arrow has good recall overall, especially with praise and rewards. Like any dog, it’s not 100% foolproof, so a secure area or long line is recommended. Leash skills: Walks well on leash but may pull if he catches an interesting scent. He’s responsive and can be redirected easily. House training: When home, Arrow clearly signals when he needs to go out by going to the door and pawing. Crate/alone time: He has had accidents when left alone, likely related to some separation anxiety. This is something his future family should be prepared to continue working on.   Important: Fencing Arrow has shown that he can climb a chain link fence, especially if he’s trying to get to his people. He is not trying to run off—he wants to be with you—but this means a standard chain link fence is not considered secure for him. A privacy fence or supervised outdoor time is strongly recommended.   In the Home Arrow has done well being loose in the home while people are around. He may help himself to “goodies” if they’re left within reach, so a little management goes a long way.   Other Pets & Kids Dogs: He’s done well meeting other dogs and shows great social awareness. He respects boundaries and backs off appropriately when another dog asks for space. Kids: He hasn’t been directly tested with small children yet, but his calmer demeanor suggests he may do well. As always, proper introductions and supervision are key.   Personality Arrow is a loving, easygoing companion who wants to be part of your day-to-day life. He’s affectionate, observant, and adjusts well to the energy around him—whether that’s a walk around the neighborhood or a quiet night on the couch.   Arrow is being fostered near Red Oak, Iowa.
