Story
Say hello to Reaux, a Pointer mix born July 2020. This cutie is looking for her very own home. Reaux loves to be the center of attention and when you are as cute as her, who can blame her? She loves to play outside chasing squirrels, so she would do best in a home with a fenced yard. She LOVES to have all the attention to herself, so she needs to be the only dog in the home. She does not get along with cats. She would enjoy kids that will play with her and help her try to catch those darn squirrels. Overall, Reaux is a very loving girl and cannot wait to find a home that is a perfect match for her! Reaux is kennel trained, will also sleep in dog bed on floor.  She does pretty good on walks, just a little anxious.  Good with bigger kids and adults, needs no other animals in home.   Only really barks to alert…to go inside, outside and while playing with us.   The suggested adoption donation for Reaux is $300. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.  Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page, Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##887382##

Story
Hi! My name is Danica and I am a 2 year old (b. 2022) Pointer mix! I am a very cute girl who was rescued from my hometown in Houston, Texas. I only had minutes to spare when I was rescued, at risk of being euthanized any moment. I used to be a stray and wandered the streets of Houston, causing me to be positive for heartworm and being a mom to multiple puppy litters. But since being adopted, I was on meds (but to me they just taste like treats) to help me with my heartworm and I now feel like a new woman! I love being with my person, my foster mom calls me a Velcro Dog. I get a little nervous when apart from my person, so ideally I would love to live with someone who is home rather often and will want my company all day every day. I am a super sweet girl who just loves to lounge around with others and occasionally play with my foster brother. I am not a fan of being kenneled, but I am house trained. Please bring me into your loving home and you will receive all the love. The suggested adoption donation for Danica is $250, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Odin is a 55 pound neutered male German Shorthaired Pointer who will turn 8 years old in May. He is a healthy, affectionate dog with the playful and loving personality the breed is known for. Odin just arrived in foster care and is currently settling into his new environment. As he decompresses, we will continue learning more about him and updating his profile. About Odin Odin is a very people oriented dog who loves being part of the household. He forms strong bonds with his humans and prefers to be wherever his people are. Like many German Shorthaired Pointers, he has a playful, energetic personality and enjoys opportunities to run, play fetch, and stay active. He also has a softer side. Odin loves to cuddle and burrow under blankets, and his previous family says he will happily curl up in your arms and sleep like a baby. He knows basic commands such as sit and responds well when engaged, especially during play. One of his funny habits is spinning in circles when he gets excited, particularly when he knows it is time to go outside.   Health and Training Odin is extremely healthy with no known medical issues. He is house trained and previously had free roam of the home during the day without problems. Earlier in life he was crate trained and treated his crate as a safe space, although he has not used one regularly for several years. He knows basic commands such as sit and responds well when engaged, especially during play.   Other Dogs Odin has previously lived with other dogs and generally focused more on his people or playing fetch than interacting with them. He does prefer to eat separately from other dogs, as he can be protective of his food if another dog approaches while he is eating. Because Odin has just arrived in foster care, we are still learning more about how he does with other dogs in a home environment and will update his profile as we learn more.   Children Odin has done well with children and has not shown aggression. Because he is an energetic dog, he can occasionally get a little excitable during play, but this comes from enthusiasm rather than negative behavior.   Thunderstorms and Fireworks Like many dogs, Odin does not enjoy loud noises such as fireworks or thunder and may look for a quiet place to hide during storms.   The Right Home for Odin Odin would do best in a home that: • Understands the energy and needs of the German Shorthaired Pointer breed • Can provide regular exercise and activity • Enjoys a dog who is affectionate and people focused • Is willing to help him settle into a new routine Odin is a loyal, goofy, affectionate companion who loves being close to his people and involved in daily life.   Interested in Odin? If you are interested in giving Odin a permanent home, please complete our adoption application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 14, 2026, 8:29 pm

Story
Update: After coming into GPPR, Brook completed her vetting and the findings were significant. She had a severe uterine infection along with numerous polyps. During surgery, she was spayed and four masses were removed. Two of those masses were concerning and have been sent out for biopsy, and we are currently waiting on results. She is recovering well so far and, true to form, is affectionate, loves attention, and wants to stay close to her people. We wanted to share this because many of you followed her story and asked what happened next. This is part of rescue that isn’t always visible. Some dogs need more than a quick turnaround. They need medical care, time, and consistency, and that is exactly where your support goes. We will continue to share updates as we learn more. For now, she is safe, she is recovering, and she is being well cared for.  ___________________________________________________________   Brooke is new to Great Plains Pointer Rescue and is settling in while she finishes her vetting. She will be ready to meet her forever family soon. So far, Brooke has shown that she is great with other dogs and does well with children. She is affectionate, loves attention, and wants to be close to her people. She does have some athletic ability and has shown interest in jumping a fence, so she will need a secure six foot fence, invisible fencing, or a structured exercise plan to keep her safely contained and fulfilled.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 19, 2026, 5:39 pm

Story
Meet Jojo: 4 Years Old, 0 Chill, 100% Good Boy Energy   Looking for a calm, low-energy couch potato? …keep scrolling.   Looking for a dog who wakes up every day like it’s the best day of his life and you’re his favorite human ever? HI. IT’S JOJO.   Jojo is 4 years old but operating on strong “puppy who just discovered espresso” energy. This boy is built for action—runs, hikes, adventures—and just when you think he might be getting tired, he’s like, “Cool, what’s next?”   Leash walking? He’s got it… eventually.   The first few minutes are what we like to call “interpretive chaos,” but once he gets the zoomies out, he settles in and walks like a gentleman(ish).   Jojo is a certified Bird Enthusiast. Not just casual interest—we’re talking full-on nature documentary intensity. He points. He honors other dogs’ points. Honestly, he might be part bird dog, part detective.   He’s also incredibly smart (doggy door? mastered instantly), very curious, and always wants to know what’s going on. If there’s something happening, Jojo would like to be involved. Preferably in the center of it.   Now let’s talk about love—because Jojo is a stage 5 clinger in the best way.   He LOVES to snuggle. He LOVES to be pet. He will gently (or not-so-gently) remind you to continue petting him at all times. Personal space? Never heard of it.   Playtime with other dogs is… enthusiastic. Think WWE Raw, but fluffier. He has a blast but sometimes gets a little too hyped and needs a quick “okay buddy, intermission!” from his human.   Also important: Jojo is VERY passionate about food. Meals are serious business. Because of that, he prefers dining solo—no sharing plates here.   Jojo’s dream home: Active humans who won’t be outpaced (good luck ) No cats or small critters (the birds have already captured his heart) A dog-savvy home that appreciates his… big personality Someone who wants a best friend, shadow, workout buddy, and professional snuggler all in one   Jojo is goofy, loving, smart, and just the right amount of chaos. If you’re ready to laugh daily, move a lot, and be aggressively loved—he’s your guy.   If you are interested in giving him a permanent home, please complete our adoption application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 19, 2026, 9:52 am
