Story
*This dog is fostered in Hamilton*Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website. Moonpie is an awesome dog looking for a fresh start at a better life. He is well mannered in his kennel but can bark for attention at times, Moonpie is a bit timid at first and would prefer that you move slow and introduce yourself respectfully. He has had positive interactions off leash with a rambunctious puppy and did very well. Moonpies play style is more reserved than that of a puppy - but he is good at giving small corrections and taking himself out of situations he doesnt feel comfortable in.Once he feels comfortable (which happens fairly quickly) he appreciates affection and listens well. Moonpie initially came to us when we seized a large number of dogs from a hoarding case. It is unlikely that he had training in his early life so his foster is working with him on leash and basic skills The ideal adopter will continue with training to let MoonPie shine! The first part of his life has been hectic and hard - MoonPie is ready to start his next chapter. Name: Moonpie Breed: Pointer mix Age: ~1.5 years Weight: ~50lbSex: Male, neutered Colour: White Medical: No concerns Good with men: Yes, but shy and warms up quicklyGood with women: Yes, but shy and warms up quicklyGood with kids 0-6: Unknown, not testedGood with kids 7-15: Unknown, not tested but presume yes to kids 10+When the dog meets new people, he: Approaches cautiously, Approaches in a neutral manner, Shy, Does not want to interact at first, but warms upGood with dogs: Yes, happy to co-exist with other dogsHow does this dog react to meeting new dogs? Loose body language, Neutral - will say hello nicely, Avoidant, Needs slow introductionsWhat type(s) of dogs does this dog prefer/be best with? Moonpie has interacted well with different play styles but would prefer a dog that can respect his need for space at first. He would do well with an outgoing but mellow dog that would come say ' Hi! ' from time to time - but could also give him the time he needs to acclimate to his new environment.Good with Cats: NoCrate training: Enters crate with coaxing, Settles after some barking/whining Amazing overnight in crate House training: YesResource Guarding: None seen, Food/high value treats - from dogs. He was housed with a lot of other dogs and there is a possibility that he may need to be fed separately - though we have not physically seen this here at the shelter.Walks on a leash: Walks well, Nervous and needs coaxingEnergy level: Medium Areas to work on: Needs confidence building, Fearful of loud noisesWhat type of environments would NOT be suitable for the dog? Not sure if an apartment/condo would be the right fit due to barking. Any noted separation anxiety? No, but he does like to bark for attention at times.Barker: Average-High What would be the ideal home for this dog?Moonpie would love to live in a home that could offer him low foot traffic of new people / a home on the quieter side / but also a home that offers him plenty of opportunity for socialization and adventures. He could use a confident and easy going dog to open him up and show him the ropes.

Story
Meet Amelia – A Sweet and Sensitive Senior Companion Breed: English Pointer / Hound Mix Age: Approximately 9 years Sex: Spayed Female Weight: Approx. 50 lbs Location: In foster care Adoption Status: Available Amelia is a gentle, approximately 9-year-old English Pointer and Hound mix who is seeking a quiet, patient forever home. She came to us from another rescue that recently closed its doors after many years of compassionate service to dogs in need. Amelia is fully vetted, including a senior blood panel, core vaccinations, and 4DX testing. She is also up to date on flea and tick prevention. She handled her veterinary exam well and tolerated a basket muzzle for safety during her nail trim. Temperament & Behaviour Amelia is currently living with a calm, similarly sized American Bulldog in her foster home. While her foster brother typically isn’t very playful, Amelia has successfully encouraged him to engage with her, showing her gentle and social nature. In her previous rescue, she lived harmoniously with multiple other dogs. However, due to her prey drive—especially noted with squirrels—a home without cats is recommended. She can be timid around new people and needs slow, respectful introductions. With time, patience, and the opportunity to explore at her own pace, Amelia does warm up and begin to show her sweet personality. Her foster family is using positive reinforcement to build her confidence and avoid overwhelming her. Home Environment Amelia would do best in a quiet home without a great deal of comings and goings from people she doesn't know. She’s still adjusting to many new experiences and will need time and understanding to settle into a new environment. Her adopters should be comfortable allowing her to decompress and gradually gain confidence. She is crate trained and eats her meals in her crate. It’s her safe space, especially when the family is out. She is also housetrained and does not bark when left alone. Amelia has shown some lower level guarding behaviours with other dogs (such as grumbling when her foster sibling approaches her food) and would benefit from continued guidance and training in this area. Activity Level & Training Amelia enjoys daily walks—ideally one longer walk (45 to 60 minutes) and a shorter outing later in the day—along with supervised yard time. She is still learning about toys and games, but has started to enjoy hide-and-seek and will initiate play with her foster brother. Her leash skills are a work in progress, likely due to limited previous experience. She is currently walked with a no-pull harness, which has been very helpful. She did well at the vet for her exam, but as noted, was uncomfortable with nail trims. Like many scent hounds, Amelia is very curious and follows her nose, sometimes leading to digging—especially if she’s picked up the scent of a critter. Even in a fenced yard, close supervision is recommended to ensure her safety. Ideal Adopter Amelia is looking for a calm, understanding adopter who will allow her to adjust at her own pace. She will benefit from: A quiet, low-traffic home A fully fenced yard A consistent routine Continued positive reinforcement training Patience with her socialization and leash skills Amelia is a sweet, intelligent girl with great potential. With the right support and environment, she will blossom into a loyal and loving companion. Located in the Barrie area September 28, 2025, 1:59 pm

Quick Facts  Name: Emma Age: 3 years old  Gender: Female Neutered/Spayed: Yes Breed: Pointer Mix Color: Black & White Spotty Weight: 21kg   All About MeHello!! My human friends!! I am Emma, an energetic Pointer mix aged 3. I am a lovely girl with warm heart and brightness. However, people did not know me, and I was on the list of euthanasia at the city shelter. Fortunately, a kind rescuer saved me, and here I am. Now, I am sooooo ready to meet my lovy dovy happy family.   My PersonalityI am very bright girl with full of charming energy. I love people’s attention and being petted. When meeting new people, my tail does not stop wagging and my ears get flat with happiness. My handler said that it was so difficult to take a picture of me with proper ear shape because they got flat all the time when I was with people. I really enjoy being companion with people and I assertively approach to them to be petted. If you rub my belly, I will melt down immediately for more petting.   Social SkillsI am very good with new doggie friends. I usually say hi gently to them and then, just mind my own business. I can share treats with them and smell out each other to get to know. Though I am more interested in people and exploring new environments.   Energy and ActivitiesOutdoor activities and exercising are my favorite things. As I am a Pointer, I need to consume my energy properly. Otherwise, I may get stressed out. I also need to take my potty break outside, so regular strolling is essential for me. I may get excited when I go for walk and pull on leash a bit but this should be settle down soon with some training, for sure. If you need a companion who can enjoy a lot of energetic activities together, I am here for you.   Special NotesIf you see me, you will instantly realize how adorable I am. I have bright energy and easy-going personality. Let me spread my happy virus to you. We can have lots of fun adventures together!!   For More YouTube Clips, Click Here!Emma's YouTube Playlist ##2457213##

Story
"ELLIE" is a POINTER MIX, about 4 years old and weights aprox. 25 kg. or 55 lbs. "ELLIE" was saved by Anastasia herself who believed the dog to be expecting puppies. She rescued her up so that “ELLIE” could have her babies safely at our sanctuary. One problem, after a quick visit to the vets, it was determined that “ELLIE” wasn’t pregnant at all, simply a bit on the chubby side. Anastasia found out later that a woman in the neighbourhood purposely overfed the strays in order to keep them around her house as a security system. "ELLIE" is now a slimmed down picture of health. With the proper diet, food and exercise she lost all excess weight and is now perfectly fit! She is also fully vetted and vaccinated, micro-chipped, and spayed. In addition, she has been housebroken and leash trained. "ELLIE" is quite human centered and immediately hits it off with strangers. She has a patient, sweet and warm personality and absolutely adores to be petted. She is also very food oriented and is easily trainable. She is social with other dogs, but as an Alpha female she is somewhat choosy when it comes to playmates and likes to be the boss. "ELLIE" would be happy in any sort of family setting. Story
DUKE is a POINTER MIX, 4 years old and weights approx 24kg. "DUKE" was found by a SPFG friend who was out in the woods with her dog. He was unconscious and starved almost to death, just skin on bones. He was one of the countless puppies hunters abandon when they discover they can't use them or sell them for hunting or breeding. Anastasia took him straight to our vet and called us. After a long phase of convalescence, followed a long period of recuperation; but now "DUKE" is a picture of health, fully vetted and vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered, also housebroken and leash trained. "DUKE" is an absolutely carefree boy who just loves everyone and everything, dogs, cats, people, strangers, bees, toads, car rides, doctors, butterflies, food. He gets excited seeing his friends even after a 5 min parting. He is curious, inquisitive and as a hunting dog has unlimited energy outdoors, whereas he calms inside. "DUKE" is a sensitive boy, very affectionate who needs gentle handling. He would be happy in any type of family, if he has ways to spend all that energy. Story
He is a POINTER, about 3 years old and weighs aprox. 17 kilos or 37 pounds. Anastasia met stray "THASOS" on a trip to the island of Thasos! He seemed to take a particulate liking to her because he kept following her around. And he was waiting for her outside in the mornings. It goes without saying that Anastasia brought him home with her when she returned. "THASOS" is typical of his breed; active and vigorous like a young colt outdoors, he turns into a normal and calm dog inside the house. He is friendly with all other animals (except birds that are his natural pray) and very playful with dogs. He adores people and is extremely eager to please them. He is also very sensitive and needs gentle handling. "THASOS" is a picture of health! SPFG has had him fully vetted and vaccinated, micro chipped, and neutered. And our volunteers have worked with him to make sure he is also housebroken and leash trained. He would be particularly happy with an active family.
