*This dog is scheduled to arrive in Grimsby, Ontario on Saturday, June 28*Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website. Moonpie is an awesome dog looking for a fresh start at a better life. He is well mannered in his kennel but can bark for attention at times / is easy to leash / walks very well / and has been friendly with everyone hes met.Moonpie is a bit timid at first and would prefer that you move slow and introduce yourself respectfully. He has had positive interactions off leash with a rambunctious puppy and did very well. Moonpies play style is more reserved than that of a puppy - but he is good at giving small corrections and taking himself out of situations he doesnt feel comfortable in.Once he feels comfortable ( which happens fairly quickly ) he appreciates affection and listens well. Moonpie initially came to us when we seized a large number of dogs from a hoarding case. The first part of his life has been hectic and hard - but hes showing great signs of being ready for a fresh start at life.Name: Moonpie Breed: Pointer mix Age: ~1.5 years Weight: ~40lbSex: Male, neutered Colour: White Medical: No concerns Good with men: Yes, but shy and warms up quicklyGood with women: Yes, but shy and warms up quicklyGood with kids 0-6: Unknown, not testedGood with kids 7-15: Unknown, not tested but presume yes to kids 10+When the dog meets new people, he: Approaches cautiously, Approaches in a neutral manner, Shy, Does not want to interact at first, but warms upGood with dogs: Yes, happy to co-exist with other dogsHow does this dog react to meeting new dogs? Loose body language, Neutral - will say hello nicely, Avoidant, Needs slow introductionsWhat type(s) of dogs does this dog prefer/be best with? Moonpie has interacted well with different play styles but would prefer a dog that can respect his need for space at first. He would do well with an outgoing but mellow dog that would come say ' Hi! ' from time to time - but could also give him the time he needs to acclimate to his new environment.Good with Cats: No, cannot live with catsCrate training: Enters crate with coaxing, Settles after some barking/whiningHouse training: Almost perfectly house trained - about 90% thereResource Guarding: None seen, Food/high value treats - from dogs. He was housed with a lot of other dogs and there is a possibility that he may need to be fed separately - though we have not physically seen this here at the shelter.Walks on a leash: Walks well, Nervous and needs coaxingEnergy level: Medium Areas to work on: Needs confidence building, Fearful of loud noisesWhat type of environments would NOT be suitable for the dog? Not sure if an apartment/condo would be the right fit due to barking. Any noted separation anxiety? No, but he does like to bark for attention at times.Barker: Average-High What would be the ideal home for this dog?Moonpie would love to live in a home that could offer him low foot traffic of new people / a home on the quieter side / but also a home that offers him plenty of opportunity for socialization and adventures. He could use a confident and easy going dog to open him up and show him the ropes.

Story
Hey there! My name is Point, and I’m a 4-year-old English Pointer girl, weighing about 25kg. I might have had a rough start in life—I was rescued from an abandoned chicken coop, where I spent my early years without much human touch. But let me tell you, those days are long behind me! Since my rescue, I’ve learned so much! I may have started a little late, but I’m super smart and quick to learn. I’ve mastered basic commands like sit, wait, and go to my crate, and I absolutely love training—especially if there’s a treat or a ball involved! Speaking of balls… I LOVE to play! Throw me a ball or a frisbee, and you’ll see the happiest dog ever. I can run, jump, and fetch all day long! I’ve got the energy and skills for agility or frisbee games, and I dream of having a family who will run and play with me. I’m a friendly and affectionate girl who adores people. I get so excited to meet new friends that I might jump up to say hello—but don’t worry, I’m working on my manners! I just can’t help it—I love people so much! The more time we spend together, the happier I am. I’m also great with other dogs, big or small. Even if another dog tries to take my favorite ball, I don’t mind—I’m happy to share! I have a gentle and patient nature, and I don’t have any aggression at all. But here’s the thing—I’m an active dog with lots of energy. I need at least two hours of exercise a day, and I’d love a yard where I can run freely. If I don’t get enough playtime, I might get a little restless, so keeping me busy with fun activities (like snuffle toys or puzzles) will make me the best companion ever! I’m still learning and growing, but with a patient and loving family, I know I can be the most amazing dog. If you love outdoor adventures, enjoy playing, and want a best friend who will always be by your side, I think we’d be a perfect match!

Story
"ELLIE" is a POINTER MIX, about 4 years old and weights aprox. 25 kg. or 55 lbs. "ELLIE" was saved by Anastasia herself who believed the dog to be expecting puppies. She rescued her up so that “ELLIE” could have her babies safely at our sanctuary. One problem, after a quick visit to the vets, it was determined that “ELLIE” wasn’t pregnant at all, simply a bit on the chubby side. Anastasia found out later that a woman in the neighbourhood purposely overfed the strays in order to keep them around her house as a security system. "ELLIE" is now a slimmed down picture of health. With the proper diet, food and exercise she lost all excess weight and is now perfectly fit! She is also fully vetted and vaccinated, micro-chipped, and spayed. In addition, she has been housebroken and leash trained. "ELLIE" is quite human centered and immediately hits it off with strangers. She has a patient, sweet and warm personality and absolutely adores to be petted. She is also very food oriented and is easily trainable. She is social with other dogs, but as an Alpha female she is somewhat choosy when it comes to playmates and likes to be the boss. "ELLIE" would be happy in any sort of family setting. Story
DUKE is a POINTER MIX, 4 years old and weights approx 24kg. "DUKE" was found by a SPFG friend who was out in the woods with her dog. He was unconscious and starved almost to death, just skin on bones. He was one of the countless puppies hunters abandon when they discover they can't use them or sell them for hunting or breeding. Anastasia took him straight to our vet and called us. After a long phase of convalescence, followed a long period of recuperation; but now "DUKE" is a picture of health, fully vetted and vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered, also housebroken and leash trained. "DUKE" is an absolutely carefree boy who just loves everyone and everything, dogs, cats, people, strangers, bees, toads, car rides, doctors, butterflies, food. He gets excited seeing his friends even after a 5 min parting. He is curious, inquisitive and as a hunting dog has unlimited energy outdoors, whereas he calms inside. "DUKE" is a sensitive boy, very affectionate who needs gentle handling. He would be happy in any type of family, if he has ways to spend all that energy. Story
He is a POINTER, about 3 years old and weighs aprox. 17 kilos or 37 pounds. Anastasia met stray "THASOS" on a trip to the island of Thasos! He seemed to take a particulate liking to her because he kept following her around. And he was waiting for her outside in the mornings. It goes without saying that Anastasia brought him home with her when she returned. "THASOS" is typical of his breed; active and vigorous like a young colt outdoors, he turns into a normal and calm dog inside the house. He is friendly with all other animals (except birds that are his natural pray) and very playful with dogs. He adores people and is extremely eager to please them. He is also very sensitive and needs gentle handling. "THASOS" is a picture of health! SPFG has had him fully vetted and vaccinated, micro chipped, and neutered. And our volunteers have worked with him to make sure he is also housebroken and leash trained. He would be particularly happy with an active family. If interested in adopting our cheerful boy "THASOS" please visit our website to fill out an application at; www.straypawsfromgreece.com
