Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Louie, a 13 to 15-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua with a calm, independent personality and a heart full of quiet companionship. Louie is the definition of a low-maintenance buddy—he enjoys being near his people but is happiest simply sharing space rather than being the center of attention. He’s mostly housebroken and does well with a routine. Like many seniors, he may need a quick potty break during the night if he’s crated, but he settles nicely and sleeps well otherwise. Louie is not leash trained and we are requiring a home with a secure yard where he can comfortably go out to potty. Louie absolutely loves going outside, hanging out, and doing "laps" in the yard, as you can see in his video. Louie gets along with other dogs who respect his space—he’s not interested in playing and prefers a peaceful, drama-free environment. He feels the same about people: he’s not a cuddler, but he enjoys being nearby and part of your day. He’s polite in the car and travels quietly, though rides can make him a bit nervous. He has a good appetite, loves super soft treats, and brings a steady, easygoing presence to the home. Louie would thrive in a quiet household with someone who appreciates a more independent companion—think of him as your tiny, loyal roommate. Louie came to Lil Rascals when his owners were moved to a long-term care facility. He has diminished vision due to cataracts, but he can see. He can hear loud sounds only. He seems to have had a dental not too long ago, but it was discovered he has an oronasal fistula, which does not seem to be causing him any discomfort and he has no symptoms, but he will need to be fed a soft diet. Due to his age, Lil Rascals has decided not to put him through surgery for it. Louie also has stage 2 kidney disease and needs to continue on a prescription kidney diet. Louie just needs a comfortable, quiet, all-adult home to enjoy the remainder of his days. If you believe you have the perfect home for senior boy Louie, please complete an app and tell us more about you. April 28, 2026, 10:26 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet the most handsome guy in town, Chipper also known as Chippy! He’s an approx. 12-13-year-old, 10-lb. black and white, long-haired chihuahua mix. But he certainly acts younger! Chippy had a rough start to life, but with love, care and understanding he has come a long way. When he first came into the rescue, he was very scared, unsure, and not trusting of people. He will still growl sometimes when he is unsure but has specific cues he gives to let you know he feels safe and it’s okay to pet him. He enjoys being cuddled and sitting with you on the couch from time to time, but he really prefers his personal space. He absolutely loves playing with squeaky toys, they’re his favorite! He gets along well with his fur siblings, he plays with them here and there, but generally doesn’t have much interest in them. He loves to go on walks, he’s fully house trained and sits quietly riding in the car. Chippy sleeps in his foster parents bedroom at night in his big comfy bed. Chippy is still learning that people can be trusted, and that he can be loved and feel comfort where he lives. He’s beginning to realize life is good and is becoming a bouncy boy who gets excited when you come home or when you’re ready to take him for a walk. He’s an absolutely adorable little boy. The more love you give this little guy the more he responds. He can't wait to find a loving home that will help him live his happiest life. Chipper needs an all-adult home without children (and with no visiting children). He’ll need someone who has chihuahua experience, who understands he may always be timid at times, and won't be discouraged or intimidated by his independant, and sometimes growly, demeanor.  If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Chipper, please complete an app and tell us more about you.   April 28, 2026, 10:26 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! This handsome fellow is Leo. He weighs 8.5 pounds and is about 8-9 years old.  We think he is mostly Chihuahua, although he could have a little Feist mixed in. Leo is a very shy boy when first meeting new people, but once he gets to know you he has a big personality.  Until recently, Leo lived his entire life with the same family. Then due to a change in circumstances, they could no longer keep him. For this reason, Leo is slow to warm up to new people and may show fear in new situations or with new people. It is important that Leo’s forever family is patient and gives him time to adjust. Leo is crate trained and his crate is his safe space.  Initially he watches you from his crate, then as he becomes more comfortable, he will follow you everywhere. Later he will be content to watch you from his dog bed or snooze near you. He LOVES going on walks. He often walks beside you, doesn’t pull on the leash, and stops when you stop. Leo is an ideal walking companion, except when it’s windy. Leo does not like the wind. Leo is house trained and he doesn’t chew or get into things. He sees himself as a watchdog and will bark to alert you about any noises outside. He loves playing tug with his people. His favorite toy is a llama. He is not especially food motivated but he is always ready for his dog cookies!  Leo slept in bed with his people in his prior home and we would like this for Leo in his forever home.  Leo gets along great with his foster siblings — all of whom are smaller and older — and seems interested in playing even though they are not.  He was an only dog in his prior home but he might enjoy a playmate of similar age and size. Leo ignores the cats he sees on his walks, however we don’t know how he is around indoor cats. Leo is a sweet boy who needs a patient, all-adult family with a calmer household. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and think you have the perfect forever home for him, we’d like to find out more about you. Please complete our adoption application and we’ll see if you’re Leo’s perfect match.   April 28, 2026, 10:26 pm
