Story
Athena Power (female, Terrier mix), Bon Bon Power (male, Chihuahua mix), Chocolate Power (male, Terrier mix), Cookie Power (female, Chihuahua mix), Flower Power (female, Chihuahua mix), Granuda Power (female, Chihuahua mix), Paloma Power (female, Chihuahua mix), and Tobi Power (male, Terrier mix) may all have different faces, sizes, and quirks, but they share one incredible thing in common — a second chance.
This group came from a home where they lived their entire lives outdoors, until their family became overwhelmed with caring for so many dogs. They were later transferred to Border Tails Rescue from the Blue Island Police Department, where their journey toward comfort and care truly began.
Because they’ve had little exposure to people or the rhythms of indoor life, the Power Dogs are still learning what it means to feel safe. They can be shy, skittish, and even a little spicy when they’re scared — but that’s just fear talking. With time, patience, and gentle guidance, they’re already showing glimpses of the affectionate, curious companions they’re sure to become.
They’ll need adopters who can move at their pace, give them space to settle in, and handle them securely outdoors to prevent escapes as they adjust. Double leashing and careful introductions to new people & spaces will be paramount to their safety. The process of earning their trust won’t happen overnight, but when it does, it’s magic — the moment a Power Dog leans in for a cuddle or wags their tail just for you is one you’ll never forget. Once they learn that home is safe, they will return that trust tenfold - often becoming the most loyal, affectionate companions you could imagine.
If you’re someone who finds beauty in helping a frightened dog learn what love feels like, one of the Power Dogs might just be waiting for you.
