Snow is a timid dog that will need time to warm up to new people, thus her ideal human would be someone who understands body language and respects her requests for space to help her feel safe. When comfortable, Snow acts more curious and independent while exploring but will eagerly seek attention from trusted humans. Given time, she'll be a great addition to peaceful movie nights on the couch!OTHER PETS: Snow has lived with other small dogs and cats previously; when meeting a small dog at TJO she sniffed and stepped away and was loose for interactions. She would likely get along with a relaxed, well-socialized dog of similar size. [Likely (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Snow is wary of meeting new people and may growl to create distance, though she is quick to warm up once her space is respected. Having a human that is experienced reading body language, supporting anxious dogs, and allowing anxious dogs to set the pace, would be her best match. [Some Experience] KIDS: Snow was initially standoffish & growly when she arrived at TJO, upon relaxing she has started seeking attention from staff but is still uncomfortable with some handling. She reportedly lived with children before but has shown timidity in unfamiliar environments - humans who are able to let her approach them first and respect her body language are her ideal housemates. Snow should meet any minors she would be living with prior to adoption. For everyone's safety and comfort, minors and dogs should be actively supervised. [13+ / dog savvy (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Snow will likely be a lap dog once she settles into her new home and feels completely comfortable around her humans; it will be important to ensure that she gets regular, moderate exercise combined with mental enrichment such as food puzzles, sniffing, and learning fun tricks will help meet her needs. [Couch Potato] VETERINARY CARE: During her vet exam, Snow was found to have an `irregularly irregular rythym` of her heart. This condition does not seem to affect her current quality of life, and she is in no apparent discomfort. She has been cleared for adoption by our vet, but is recommended to follow up with a veterinary cardiologist. [Intensive] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement will help Snow bond with her new owner while building confidence and learning new skills and fun tricks. Thelma and Louise are a cat and a dog that came to TJO together and have been inseparable! Found huddled together on a porch, they have found comfort and security in each other during this new chapter, and would love to extend their friendship to include a new family.OTHER PETS: Louise came in with a cat and has some experience with other pets in the home. However, she tends to avoid other dogs, so as with any new family member she'll need a slow introduction to a new home. A mellow, well-socialized dog will the best fit for both Louise and Thelma as they adjust. [Case-By-Case (Dogs Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Experience with positive reinforcement, or willingness to learn would be the ideal match. While Thelma tends to be more open to meeting new people, Louise is what we call a chicken little--a dog that is easily scared by new sounds, people, and objects in her environment. It's important to be able to read body language and recognize fear to help her feel more comfortable in a new home, while giving time and plenty of space. They'll both need time to properly settle into a new home and fully decompress, so limiting guests and keeping outings short and close to home will help them adjust. [Some Experience]KIDS: Louise would likely be able to get along with younger people in the house but as a nervous dog, she would not be a fit for children in the house younger than 13. She also has shown some subtle signs of possible resource guarding of food, so trading up and leaving food alone is safest and will help reassure her she can keep her favorite things. Minors should be actively supervised at all times to keep everyone comfortable and safe. [13+ / Dog Savvy]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Louise loves exploring and spending time with people she trusts. She hasn't shown a high level of energy while at the shelter, but she will still need regular exercise combined with mental enrichment such as food puzzles, games, sniffing, and learning fun tricks to meet her needs and prevent boredom. She also enjoys sitting on laps with those she feels comfortable with, but it's important to allow her to approach and make that choice. Thelma has been very social with the people around her, but so far has preferred spending her time on a comfy chair than running across a room. [Couch Potato / Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: Louise will need some dental work before she's fully adopted, which will be done here. After that, regular visits to the vet will help keep her in her best health. Thelma has been given a clean bill of health during her stay at TJO. Blue is 5 years old and a wonderful dog. He’s always lived with other dogs but as if 2 years ago doesn’t get along with older male chihuahua who is father actually. He’s not trained but listens and is super sweet. He also isn’t spayed. He is my third dog and they are mostly kept in the kitchen. I believe this has stressed him and it’s why he has become aggressive towards my other male dog Rexx. He really just needs a loving a patient person. Blue deserves a good loving home, that can be patient and willing to teach him. I hope someone can really give him a second chance. I don’t want an adoption fee only for him to go to a good home. I will keep him until he finds the perfect new home.
