Story
OTHER PETS: Cookie has been wonderful with the other dogs he's met. He's been both friendly and respectful, even when another dog doesn't seem interested in him. While excited to meet other dogs, he seems to match energy well and knows how to take a hint when he might be showing a little too much energy. [Likely (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Experience with positive reinforcement or willingness to learn. While Cookie does warm up quickly, he is still timid and unsure with people he's not familiar with. When meeting new people, he should be allowed to approach on his own time, but also wouldn't say no to a few offered treats! He takes treats very gently from people, though he has shown a tendency to resource guard high-value things like bones and his food. [Some Experience]KIDS: Because of Cookie's resource guarding seen at the shelter, his best match would be a home without kids. While his guarding can be managed easily by simply leaving him alone while he eats or enjoys a bone, young kids may be too unpredictable for him to feel comfortable. Trading up is the safest way to remove food and toys when necessary, using something of equal or higher value, this teaches dogs they don't have to lose things they value. [Adults Only]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Cookie hasn't shown much interest in play, but once he's comfortable he'll climb right into your lap and settle down for a nap. He may be a lap dog, but he definitely savors his time outside, especially on a clear spring day! And once he's fully settled into his new home, he may even gain a new interest in playing or toys. A combination of regular, appropriate exercise and mental enrichment such as food puzzles and scent games will help meet his needs. [Couch Potato / Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: Cookie arrived at TJO with what is called a `cherry eye` in both eyes. While not an immediate concern at this time, an established relationship with a vet will be important to monitor any changes and keep up with any future care he may need. [Above Average]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Cookie is still at the beginning of his training journey, and will do best learning with someone who can offer patience as he adjusts and decompresses in his new home. Positive reinforcement will help Cookie not only learn his new skills and fun tricks, but also help him to feel more comfortable and confident in himself! It will provide a good opportunity for him to bond with his new owner as well. [Minimal]GROOMING: Routine brushing will help to minimize shedding in the home. [Minimal]May 29, 2026, 7:07 pm

Story
Crouton is a dog who is timid around humans but fearless when it comes to following his senses! As a nervous pup, he is a clever boy will dig under fences if left unsupervised and spends his indoor time searching for exits to the outdoors when he is not napping or warming human laps. Crouton is looking for a quiet home that will be able to keep him safe, build trust, and provide ample time for lap naps.OTHER PETS: Crouton greeted other dogs appropriately, disengaged and continued looking for ways outside. He may warm to another dog in time but he is perfectly happy as a solo pup hanging out with his humans. Crouton should meet any dogs he would be living with prior to adoption. [Disinterested in Other Dogs]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone who has experience with positive reinforcement or willingness to learn, and keeping escape artist dogs safe while allowing Crouton to set the pace of interactions would be Crouton's ideal fit. [Some Experience] KIDS: Crouton enjoys calm quiet time with humans he trusts. He warms quickly to people who let him set the pace of their interactions. We want to set Crouton up for success, so his human family members should be old enough to understand and learn how to interact with him safely. Children and dogs should always be actively supervised when spending time together for everyone's safety. [13+ / Dog Savvy (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Crouton enjoys exploring outside; he is very curious and walks well on leash but WILL dig under fences if left unsupervised. Crouton would likely do well with regular neighborhood walks, potentially longer ones as long as care is taken to ensure he does not overexhert himself. A combination of mental enrichment, such as puzzle toys and scent games, and regular exercise, are the best ways to meet his needs. Play may not happen right away but can be developed as he decompresses. [Couch Potato / Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] GROOMING: [Minimal] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Crouton bond with his new owner while learning new skills, fun tricks, and learn the enjoyment of playtime. Story
Canelo is a sweet, playful pup of about 7 months. He has spent time with a husky and pit mix and loves them both! He is working really hard on house training and is doing well so far. He has been good with every person he has met including children. He is still a puppy and has a lot of energy. He likes to play and go on walks. Due to a family members inability to keep him and care for him properly, we are helping him find a loving home he deserves!
