Story
Reuben is a loving, silly, and adorable little dog. His underbite and head tilt are devastatingly cute. He shakes his whole body when greeting new people and trots along when enjoying his walks. He has a bladder of steel and has never been destructive in our home. He is non-reactive to other dogs on walks and infrequently barks. We are rehoming Reuben because we have a young child with whom Reuben cannot live safely. Moreover, Reuben is clearly not as happy with us as he once was and deserves a loving home. Reuben is blind and has separation anxiety and epilepsy. He has bitten three people (in every case the biting was to do with his blindness and he growled before biting). His behavioral problems have improved significantly since we've had him and his medical problems are well-managed. We are confident he would make someone an excellent companion. If you are interested in learning more, reach out! We hope to be as transparent as possible to ensure that his next home is his last.

Story
Meet Bailey! Bailey is the sweetest, chunkiest, and most perfect chihuahua and if you don't agree then please move on because Bailey's obviously out of your league. Bailey loves her people very much and all you really have to do to be considered "her people" is give her a little time and few little bites of chicken nuggets. Bailey is nervous around strangers, "social butterfly" isn't her vibe and she tends to be relate more to a deeply bonded and loyal parrot. Yes, she will occasionally sit on your shoulder. Yes, she will give people dirty looks if they consider petting her before paying the appropriate chicken nuggie bribery. And, yes, she will likely outlive you and move down the family tree as an immortal old chihuahua heirloom. But, unlike a parrot, she will not squawk and scream at all hours of the day and she won't tear your household items apart the second you slack on enrichment. Bailey would do best in an adult only home with a family who is willing to give her the time (and snacks) needed to help her feel safe and cherished. She has lived with small dogs before but has no experience with larger dogs or cats. If you agree that Bailey is perfect - and how couldn't you? - then please complete an adopter's profile at parl.org and come in during our open hours to meet her!

Story
Meet Tum Tum — a low-maintenance smaller dog who is looking for a chauffeur/forever family to drive him around town and help write the next chapter of his life: “Driving Mr. Tummy.” While some dogs are fixated on their ball or their daily walk, Tum Tum’s all-consuming obsession is the car. He would sit in the passenger seat all day long if he could.  Tum Tum is approximately three years old, has only three legs, and is the perfect small to medium size at just 33 lbs. He is a mix of 19 different breeds according to his breed test — an equal mix of small and large breeds. Chihuahua (15 percent) and Husky (14 percent) were the top two breeds. He’s potty trained, crate trained and not destructive. He gets along with other dogs, enjoys the company of children and is completely neutral around cats. Tum Tum can be leery of men he does not know, but he loves his foster dad. It’s important that any man in the home wants to spend time with Tum Tum to develop a good relationship.  Tum Tum is calm and well-behaved when he’s on a leash, but short walks are more his speed. Tum broke his front leg as a younger dog. Sadly it was never properly fixed, and it had to be amputated. Tum Tum is looking for a home with a fenced yard so he can enjoy sitting outside. He doesn’t need a super active family, just someone who likes to take him on car rides occasionally. He does seem to do better with another dog in the home, but depending on the situation, he could be fine as an only dog. Please apply today if you can give Tum Tum his perfect forever home. Car rides are a must!
