OVERLOOKED & WAITING: Why has nobody chosen sweet Scout? We have a confession to make about Scout, our 6-year-old, 12-pound Cavalier-Chihuahua mix. He has basically mastered the art of the "soft launch." He wants to be your best friend—he’s just not ready to announce it publicly on day one! Scout has been waiting a long time for his forever person. Because he is a sensitive, quiet soul who doesn't instantly run up to strangers for belly rubs, he keeps getting passed over. But if you look past his initial shyness, you will find an absolutely magical little dog. ⨠The Real Scout (Once You’re In His Circle): • The Master Observer: Scout likes to watch you from a safe distance, quietly assessing if you are worthy of his affection (Spoiler alert: the bar is just patience and hot dogs). • The Snuggle Pile Champion: While he takes a moment to warm up to humans, he loves other dogs his size. At night, his favorite thing in the world is to sleep either right next to or directly on top of his dog friends in a cozy puppy pile! • The Zoomie Expert: Once he feels safe in the yard, his playful side completely takes over! He loves chasing his dog buddies, running through the grass, and just enjoying life. • A Gentle Soul: He is healthy, house-trained, and now happily lets the people he trusts gently stroke his face. Scout’s Wishlist for His Human: Scout isn't looking for a chaotic, high-traffic household. He is looking for an adult-only sanctuary with a securely fenced yard where he can feel safe. He may never be a dog you can pass around to strangers at a crowded brewery, and he might never want to be a lap dog—and that is okay! He needs someone who loves him exactly for who he is.
