FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Boots - he and his littermates were part of an oops litter. The family couldn't keep them and by the time they came to us, they were already 6 months old. Mommy is a long haired chihuahua - but they were unusual looking so we did DNA and fell on the floor when the results just came in. 18% of their DNA is Malinois. It's obvious daddy was a bigger dog. With their long bodies, we actually thought dachshund or corgi. Ha! Boots is only about 12# at 6 months old. We still think they will be under 20# like mommy. Boots is currently in a foster home, learning all things puppy - crate training, leash walking and more. Once settled in, he's pretty silly and sweet. He loves to play with the resident dogs and would enjoy another dog in the home. This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! This litter arrived a little fearful - still wagging tails, but a lot of change in their world so we are stressing the 333 Rule. New things like vacuum cleaners, odd TV noises, etc. provide a moment of pause. The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood. Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

Shes like a pogo stick until she gets it. - It does seem like there is a lot in the world that is just new. Vacuum, hairdryer, TV, stairs.. all very weird to her. - Smart girl, picked up doggy door in less than an hour. - Loves dogs, loves playing with them. - I have no concerns about her picking up crate very quickly. She had a little tantrum but then slept for 4 hours on the very first day. It will only get better. - She seem very curious and playful. - Along with smart, she's a little contrary. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Ramona! Born: May 14, 2025 Adoption Fee: $300 Apply to adopt at: www.adoggie4you.org Ramona is a playful, sweet-natured puppy who’s ready to find her forever family! She and her three siblings were rescued along with their devoted momma from a backyard breeder who, until a kind-hearted Good Samaritan stepped in, refused to spay or neuter his dogs. Thanks to that intervention, this little family is now on the path to a better life—full of love, not litters. At just a few months old, Ramona is all puppy! She’s curious, goofy, and full of energy. She adores playing with her siblings and toys, snuggling up for nap time, and giving her people lots of love. Did we mention she’s a total snack enthusiast? Ramona would thrive in a home ready for the joys (and challenges!) of raising a young pup. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, and lively new best friend, Ramona could be the one. Apply to adopt this sweetheart at www.adoggie4you.org   This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington KY or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $250. We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 28, 2025, 7:06 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Voight is a tough and lucky guy.   Born around April 2025, this 7.6-pound male chihuahua was scheduled to arrive at the shelter as part of a seizure of dogs from a challenging living situation. While he was being unloaded, he escaped and spent the next five days running the countryside.  He was finally trapped when he got hungry.  Turns out he is quite the friendly little man.  He just wanted an adventure.  He learned the error of his ways and has decided he likes getting his meals on time and sleeping in a warm bed.  This handsome boy is looking for a patient and loving family who can help him continue to build his confidence and show him the world is a wonderful place. He has made incredible progress in a short time and is ready to shower his new owners with loyalty and affection. Think Voight might be the perfect addition to your family? You can apply to adopt this sweet survivor at www.adoggie4you.org. The adoption fee is $300. This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington KY or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $225.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 29, 2025, 3:06 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.**Koda Bear** This darling puppy was dumped from a car and left to die. A wonderful passerby took the puppy home to care for her until a rescue had the room to take him.  Koda is settling in at Rompin Paws Rescue, and he is ready to make someone a fabulous family companion!! Koda looks like he has a long coat. He does not, its soft and fine, not at all thick, just a bit fluffy giving the image he has a dense coat. I would call it short, to medium, soft and fine, Puppy fluff. Koda is a little shy, but curious, and warms up quickly. He would love to have a doggie companion in the home for mentoring and friendship. Koda's estimated adult weight is approximately 30 pounds, based on information we found online.   He is either a Pomeranian-German Shepherd or a Elkhound mixed with small breeds because he will not be a large dog based on his 15 pound size at 5 months of age, and the vet confirming his potential size.. Koda will need an adopter who has time to train and care for a growing puppy. Puppies are a lot of work and require dedication to establish boundaries and help them become well-behaved members of the family. He cannot be locked in a crate for hours at a time and be left alone. Koda will do best in a home with an adult, dog-friendly pup who can mentor Koda and be his BFF dog buddy. Koda will do really well with older, dog-savvy children, as this breed mix makes an excellent family dog. **Adopting Koda** To adopt Koda, please use the link below. One of our volunteers will review your application and follow up with you to ask questions, address any concerns, and determine whether you are a good match for this pup. If a match is made, the next step will be a meet-and-greet. Please use a computer to complete the application, as tablets and cell phones may disrupt the process. Koda has transitioned to a human-grade diet that avoids kibble and focuses on a healthy, canine-specific feeding regimen. We will educate his adopters on proper diet and nutrition. The adoption fee for Koda is $595 and includes spaying, puppy vaccines, rabies, and a microchip. www.rompinpawsrescue.com   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 10, 2026, 10:37 am
