Meet Amaretto: A Sweet, Playful Girl Full of Personality
Amaretto is a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix who has come out of her shell in foster care. Once shy, scared, and unsure, she has grown into a happy, affectionate little dog who loves being part of the action. However, she is also a very low-maintenance, go with the flow type of dog.
Amaretto’s favorite things are: eating, sleeping, and playing. She loves to cuddle and, at night, will burrow under the blankets to sleep close to her foster family and dog siblings.
She’s a happy, sweet girl with a slightly mischievous side. Amaretto enjoys “collecting” items like shoes and socks and moving them around.
Amaretto is a big fan of food. She arrived underweight at 9 pounds and is now closer to 12 pounds. Because she loves food so much, she’ll need a home that can help manage her portions so she doesn’t gain too much weight.
She’s still working on potty training. She is most comfortable going on a pee pad in her crate and often prefers being placed there to go. She’s learning to use potty pads outside of her crate with more consistency.
Outdoors, Amaretto is happy and relaxed. She loves slow walks where she can sniff and explore at her own pace. She doesn’t bark, pull, or show interest in chasing.
Amaretto absolutely loves other animals. She thrives with her dog siblings—playing hard, then cuddling up together for hours. She especially adores her “big sister”; the two play a lot and then settle in together for long naps. She shares space, toys, and even food with little conflict.
She also loves the cat and will happily give kisses or gently try to play whenever they pass each other.
Amaretto fits well into a multi-pet household and would do best with another playful dog companion.
In new environments, she can still be very scared. She will need a home that can give her a little time to settle in and feel secure. Once she does, she will reward you with endless affection, kisses, companionship, and plenty of personality.
She is UTD on shots, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $500.
