Story
Hello! My name is Ranger, and I’m a loving and loyal Siberian Husky who loves to be out and about and exercising and exploring the world every chance I can get! I have been a wonderful pup for my mom and dad, but unfortunately with their updated lives and new young human kiddos in their lives (and more on the way), I have sadly just not been able to get the amount of time needed to just “be a husky” and mom and dad have had to make a long and very difficult decision to find me a loving new home that can help me be an active dog again. I’m a very very happy dog that gets along wonderfully with any other dog and person and has literally never hurt a fly, but I do require a lot of activity and exercise and definitely would want to be with a loving family that knows what it means to take care of a husky! Thank you for looking and let my mom and dad know if you have questions about me!

Story
Poe is a 6 year old husky mix. He was born February 2020. I’ve had him since he was a puppy. He is genuinely a great a dog. He has helped me through some very difficult times. He’s very in tune with emotions and offers great support. We have started a family and learned he isn’t comfortable with young children. He would thrive in a household where he is the only pet and no children are present. He doesn’t get along with other animals but is leash trained and loves going for walks. We are devastated to have to rehome him and know it’s best to let him be in an environment he’s most comfortable in.

Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: Brought in as a stray and initially aged at 5 months old, but after reviewing prior records, it was determined he had been neutered 2.5 years ago and was re-aged accordingly. Transferred from Operation Kindness in Texas. *Koda does not attend adoption events unless there is a confirmed potential adopter who would like to meet him. Please email info@coloradopuppy.org to plan a meet and greet.* From the foster: **UPDATE July 1st: Koda was adopted briefly, but never fully settled into his adoptive home; upon one of his humans leaving for a trip, the second human attempted to leash him for a potty break and he became terrified, ultimately fear-biting them. Koda went back to his foster home the next day and has begun to re-acclimate. He is still struggling with leashing, is most successful when free-roaming his fenced yard, and with other dogs. We think he'll be most likely to open-up in an adoptive home that has both of those things, and his adopters should be prepared to give him ample time to feel comfortable and seek attention on his own timeline. Update from new foster on 8/29: I’ve had the pleasure of having Koda with me since last week - he is such a special little guy! What we expected from the foster shift: Koda to be standoffish at best and probably a do bunch of hiding at least until he got acclimated to the new environment. What we got instead: instant best friends with my 2 dogs, and he slept snuggled up against me the first night. Things aren’t always smooth sailing, he still flinches if I move too fast or raise my voice, but where he is now compared to how he was a few months ago is like night and day. Koda’s perfect home would have a big fenced yard, and at least one doggy sibling who likes to wrestle and run. Koda and my 4 month old Cattle dog mix spend HOURS a day hard at play, often joined by my 3 year old Shepsky for full contact Puppy Palooza! Koda is still learning to trust men, and small children make him nervous, but show him patience and love he just melts into a kiss -giving, tail-wagging, snuggle bug. Koda is well on his way to learning that there really are some wonderful people in the world. He is totally going to end up being somebody’s soul dog… is it possible he’s yours? Bio from Koda’s first foster: This is Koda. He is seeking a very loyal long-term best friend and pack of his own. Koda is blossoming into a happy and playful pup. With lots of love and consistency, he will be a brand new guy! He may need to explore the world in his ThunderShirt and get carried around occasionally but he will look darn cute doing it. He’ll need a lot of time in his new home to adjust. Koda’s new home should expect double the decompression and adjustment period. Every small ounce of personality will be worth the wait, and an enthusiastic best friend will be waiting for you.
