We need to find Winston a forever east valley foster home by the end of January 2026.  Winston’s current foster broke her hip and no longer is able to care for him.  He is in a temporary foster home until the end of January. Winston is the sweetest 11-12 year old man, he loves all animals, dogs, cats etc.  He has lower airway disease and at times has a hard time breathing, he is on meds and doing good.  Due to his medical and age, Winston is not a candidate to be neutered, therefore he does mark, but he does just fine wearing a wrap.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 7, 2026, 12:28 pm

Story
Meet Donny — a sweet, affectionate pug with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Donny loves people and thrives on human companionship. He enjoys being close to his person, relaxing together, and being part of everyday life. He is loyal, expressive, and happiest when he feels secure and included. Donny does best in the right environment. He can be selective with other dogs, especially male dogs, and would be happiest as the only dog or possibly with a compatible female dog after proper introductions. He would do best with someone who understands dog behavior and can provide calm structure and consistency. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and house trained (with occasional anxiety-related accidents during major changes). Donny has never shown aggression toward people and is very loving with humans. He would do best in a home without cats. If you’re looking for a loyal, one-on-one companion who bonds deeply with his person, Donny could be a wonderful fit.

Story
Hi there! I’m Bruce — your future best friend Hello, wonderful human! My name is Bruce, and I’m a happy-go-lucky guy on a quest for something pretty important: my forever home. I’ve been told I have a big personality packed into one very lovable body, so let me tell you a little about myself—from my own perspective, of course. First things first: have you ever noticed a perfectly curly tail that just won’t stop wagging? Yep, that’s me! I’m part pug, and you can definitely see it in that signature curl, but I’ve got a delightful mix of other breeds in me too. That means I kept the charm and cuteness while upgrading to a soft, velvety coat—not stiff at all—just right for cuddling, petting, and admiring while I nap beside you. My journey hasn’t been the easiest, but it did turn out pretty well. I was picked up as a stray by animal control in Yuma, and when nobody came to claim me, I packed my bags (okay, just my collar) and caught a ride to Phoenix. Now I’m hanging out at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, making friends, wagging tails, and waiting patiently for you. Let’s talk personality. I’m what you might call a social butterfly—but, you know, a dog. I get along great with other dogs and absolutely love people. Everyone I meet just feels like a new friend I haven’t sniffed yet. I can’t say for sure how I feel about cats, since I haven’t had the pleasure, and we haven’t tested me around kids just yet—but with my friendly nature, I’m off to a pretty promising start. When it comes to activity, I’m wonderfully flexible. I don’t need a ton of exercise, which makes me a great fit if you live in an apartment or a smaller space. But don’t let that fool you—if you’re feeling adventurous, I’m your guy. I can happily hike with you all day and then come home to relax on the couch like nothing happened. Best of both worlds, right? Oh, and here’s the really good stuff. I’m already: &#226&#156&#133 Neutered &#226&#156&#133 Up to date on all my vaccinations &#226&#156&#133 Microchipped That means I’m ready to go—no extra appointments required before we start our life together. So, what do you say? If you’re looking for a cheerful companion with a curly tail, a soft coat, and a heart full of love, I might just be your Bruce. If you’d like to meet me and see if we’re a match, have your human send an email to Mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. I’ll be here… wagging, smiling, and dreaming about the day we finally meet. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143     PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.   All dogs are adopted on a first come - first served basis. Central Arizona Animal Rescue is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation. We are located in San Tan Valley, AZ. If you have other dogs already, you must bring them for introduction prior to adoption. Story
Gretta came to us from Yuma and is believed to be 4-5 years old is around 12 lbs. She had a blind/damaged right eye removed by the shelter and is mostly blind in the left - perhaps sees some light and vague shapes. Gretta is a bit of a persnickety eater until she gets into a routine. She did gain about 1.5 lbs in foster care but could likely still gain another pound. The foster was soaking kibble in broth and putting treats on top which has worked Despite her vision issues she is amazing on a leash and can go a mile a day now. She loves her walks so will need a home willing and able to continue to provide them. She just needs someone who will keep her safe from running into things. She’s been very friendly to everyone she’s met. Had really bonded to original foster and is extremely. She will even stay on the bed or the sofa with a “stay” command. She has begun to play with stuffies. Is hesitant about squeakers. Loves to play with your hand, especially if it’s under a blanket. She has an adorable “aggressive squirrel” hop at you when playing on the floor. Gretta absolutely loves to cuddle. Sleeps all night very quietly in bed. Does not necessarily like to be alone but she can be crated when needed for short periods. She will initially whine but settles down. She has very good hearing. Household noises have not bothered her. She does not startle easily however, the sound of other dogs or people at the front door will cause her to bark short warnings. Also, can smell a dog from an amazing distance and gets super excited – pulling on the harness and running crazy When encountering other dogs on leash, she was initially on guard and would even growl. Understandable - being blind and tiny. Now she pulls to go meet them, sniffs and has no fear or aggression. I took her to a friend’s house; we did a pack walk and then she was fine with them in the yard with slow introductions and non-in-your-face dogs, she will do well. No testing with cats. Gretta’s been great with young however she is more at risk of being hurt or be a trip hazard with the blindness and fast active kids. She is such a great little girl. Will be a great companion for a person that is home quite a bit or can take her to work and will also walk her apply here >>> https://form.jotform.com/cherishedtails/dog-application
