Story
“Hi, I’m Paula… The 10‑Pound Queen of Sass and Snuggles.” From the heart of a pint‑sized girl with a big personality Hi there. My name is Paula, and I may only weigh about ten pounds, but trust me… I am not small. Not in spirit, not in attitude, and definitely not in the way I run my little world. I’m a pug–chihuahua cross, which means I’ve got the perfect mix of adorable squish and spicy confidence. I’m somewhere between 1 and 2 years old, fully grown, and absolutely ready to find the person who will love me forever. I started my journey in Yuma, wandering around as a stray with no one to call my own. Nobody came looking for me, and nobody knew my story. But I kept my chin up and my tail curled, because I knew my future had to be brighter than my past. Now I’m staying at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, and I’m hoping—really hoping—that the next chapter of my life begins with you. Let me tell you a little about myself. I may be tiny, but I am fiesty. I hold my own with dogs twice my size, and I don’t let anyone push me around. In fact, I have a buddy here named Bryce—a silly boy who thinks it’s funny to sit on me, steal my treats, or hog all the attention. And let me tell you… I do not let that slide. I let him know, loud and clear, that his behavior is rude and unacceptable. I’m polite, but I’m no pushover. When I first arrived here, everything felt big. The dogs were bigger, the noises were louder, and the world felt a little overwhelming. I was shy, unsure, and trying to figure out where I fit in. But it didn’t take me long to realize something very important: everyone here has treats. And if you ask nicely—maybe with a cute head tilt or a gentle paw—they’ll give you some. I’ve become quite the professional treat‑collector. I’ve also discovered something else I really love: being held. I’m good at it, too. I tuck right in, relax my little body, and soak up every bit of affection you’re willing to give. I may be bold and confident, but I’m also a sweetheart who wants to feel safe and loved. I’m already spayed, microchipped, and current on all my vaccinations, so I’m ready to go home the moment you fall in love with me. And I think you will. I’m small enough to carry, big enough in personality to make you laugh every day, and sweet enough to curl up with you on the couch at night. I don’t need a huge yard or a fancy lifestyle. I just need someone who sees me—really sees me—and says, “That’s my girl.” I don’t know what my life was like before Yuma. I don’t know who I belonged to or where I slept at night. But I know what I want now: a forever home, a soft bed, a human who thinks my sass is charming, and maybe a dog friend who doesn’t sit on me. I want to be your little shadow, your tiny protector, your snuggle buddy, your treat‑seeking sidekick. So… what do you think? Are you ready to meet me? If you’d like to come say hello, the humans here say you can email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. I’ll be waiting—ears perked, tail curled, and heart open. Love, Paula Your future 10‑pound queen.   PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. MEET ERNIE!! Ernie is a senior Pug/Chihuahua mix with a heart full of love and a soul that’s ready to relax into retirement. At 35 pounds, this silver-faced sweetheart spends most of his day lounging in his cozy dog bed or curled up near his favorite humans. He’s all about affection and snacks—though he could stand to lay off the treats just a bit to stay healthy! Ernie is hard of hearing and has some arthritis, but he’s otherwise a healthy guy. He’s house-trained, uses a doggy door, and gets along well with children and other dogs. Ernie is a gentle, affectionate presence and would thrive in a calm home where someone is around most of the day to keep him company. If you’re ready to give a sweet senior his golden years in comfort and love, Ernie just might be your perfect match. Ready to meet Ernie? Story
Approximate Date of Birth: 5/1/2025 | This lovable goofball has a heart of gold and enough personality to keep you smiling every day. His friends like to joke that he's missing a brain cell or two, but that's all part of his irresistible charm. He makes friends with everyone he meets and is always ready for love, playtime, and fun. With plenty of energy to burn, he'll thrive with an active family that can give him the exercise and enrichment he needs before he happily crashes in for a well-earned nap. Don't let him fool you, though he can be sound asleep one second and instantly spring to life the moment he hears a treat bag, a can opening, or the words, "Let's go play!" If you're looking for a goofy, affectionate best friend who will keep you laughing and love you unconditionally, this sweet boy is ready to find his furever home. | Cats: Loves with proper introduction. | Dogs: Loves with proper introduction. | Children: Sociable with kids over the age 8.| Health information: All cats and kittens are spayed and neutered, preventatively dewormed, and microchipped. Story
Meet Dharma! ❤️ Dharma is a beautiful brown and black Pug mix who is about 2 years old and weighs approximately 25–30 pounds. At the heart of everything she does, Dharma simply wants to be loved. She has a fun, playful side and especially enjoys romping around with her buddy, Pixel. The two of them can keep each other entertained for hours! Once playtime is over, though, Dharma settles down quickly and is perfectly happy relaxing beside her favorite people. Dharma is an endlessly curious girl who likes to investigate everything around her. Sometimes she approaches new things with a little caution—a toy she hasn't seen before in the yard or an unfamiliar object in the house might seem suspicious at first. But once she has a chance to check it out, she quickly realizes there's nothing to worry about and happily moves on. She loves people and gets along well with cats. She's also good with most dogs after a slow introduction, although larger dogs can make her a little nervous. She's never aggressive—just a sensitive girl who appreciates a little patience while she builds confidence. Dharma also does well with calm, respectful children. Dharma has made great progress with her house training. Crate training has helped her develop a good routine, and she keeps her kennel clean while waiting to go outside. With continued consistency, she'll continue to thrive. When it's time to cuddle, Dharma is all in! She loves curling up with her people and occasionally forgets she's a little bigger than the average lap dog. If you don't mind sharing your lap with a sweet girl who thinks she fits perfectly, Dharma will happily soak up every bit of affection. With her playful spirit, gentle heart, growing confidence, and endless love to give, Dharma is ready to find a patient, loving family who will help her continue to blossom into the amazing companion she's meant to be. ***PLEASE EMAIL ADOPT@VALLEYDOGS.ORG for an adoption application.
