Story
MEET ERNIE!! Ernie is a senior Pug/Chihuahua mix with a heart full of love and a soul that’s ready to relax into retirement. At 35 pounds, this silver-faced sweetheart spends most of his day lounging in his cozy dog bed or curled up near his favorite humans. He’s all about affection and snacks—though he could stand to lay off the treats just a bit to stay healthy! Ernie is hard of hearing and has some arthritis, but he’s otherwise a healthy guy. He’s house-trained, uses a doggy door, and gets along well with children and other dogs. Ernie is a gentle, affectionate presence and would thrive in a calm home where someone is around most of the day to keep him company. If you’re ready to give a sweet senior his golden years in comfort and love, Ernie just might be your perfect match. Ready to meet Ernie? Story
Born in late March 2025, this adorable one year-old pug/chihuahua mix is already winning hearts with his cuddly charm and gentle nature. His story began when his loving mama was rescued from a shelter while pregnant — now this little guy is ready to write his next chapter: a forever home.Rick is sweet, calm, and affectionate—great with gentle kids and other small, friendly dogs. He’s still learning the ropes (house training and manners are in progress!), but he’s a bright little boy who loves to please and be close to his people.Fully vetted, neutered, and current on all his vaccines, Rick is happy, healthy, and ready to be your loyal companion. His adoption fee is $480.If you’re looking for a furry friend who will stick by your side through thick and thin — Rick is your "Together Forever" kind of pup.To learn more or request an adoption application, please contact Carrie On Rescue: Call or text: 480-603-7680 Email: carrieonrescuers@hotmail.com Let this little love song of a pup bring joy and devotion into your life.

Story
Kingman is a 3-year-old, 22-pound Pug blend with a charming personality and an adorable face that's sure to make you smile. Having recently joined Friends for Life, he's ready to leave shelter life behind and find the loving forever home he deserves. This handsome guy is still learning that leashes aren't something to worry about—they're the beginning of walks, adventures, and quality time with his favorite people. He'll benefit from a patient family willing to help build his confidence, and we think a harness will make those lessons much more comfortable and enjoyable.Kingman has already done well meeting other dogs, so he may enjoy having a canine companion, provided introductions are done thoughtfully. With a little guidance, encouragement, and plenty of love, Kingman is sure to blossom into a wonderful companion. If you're looking for a sweet, sturdy little sidekick who's ready to discover how great life can be, Kingman may be the perfect addition to your family. To get started in the process of meeting Kingman, please visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html to complete an adoption consultation form, and then come by the Adoption Center to meet with one of our adoption counselors. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the animal. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In the event there is more than one home interested in the same animal, a lottery may be held that will include all families that are at our adoption center at the time we open the day the animal becomes available. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).
