Hello! I am new to the shelter! Please keep checking my profile for updates as the staff gets to know me better! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 PetWatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $175.00Per state law chapter 25.4, adopters must purchase a non-refundable 2024 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. Story
Small Male Pug Adult | Weight:  27 pounds   While it might be several weeks until the Pittsburgh Steelers training camp begins, Franco is ready to go right now!   This handsome boy is approximately 8-9 years old and weighs about 27 pounds. He’s on a weight loss journey, but like his foster momma tells him, “we didn’t gain it in a month, buddy, so we’re not gonna lose it in a month!” Slow and steady wins the race, although there is nothing slow about this guy.  He may be 8 or 9, but he still has the moves. From the moment he wakes up in the morning (more about that in a bit), he bounds off the bed and down his doggie steps to find a favorite stuffie, which changes by the hour most days.  He’s a gentleman, though, and never destroys them.    And speaking of being a gentleman, this boy will not wake you at some ungodly hour in the morning to go out or be fed. In fact, he’s typically still snoozing while his foster mom has already finished her coffee! He is well-mannered and will sit while being leashed and unleashed, takes treats gently, and walks nicely on leash (after an initial pull or two). He knows several commands, including “come, sit, place, stay,” and is working on “down.”    Franco loves to be near his human, either in a dog bed in the same room as you or curled up on your lap.  One of his favorite things to do is burrow under a blanket with his stuffie and rest his head on some part of your body.  He also enjoys a good game of tug. And while he may be small, he is mighty, and takes his guard duty seriously, although he is a bit of a couch potato and believes no day is complete without several good naps.   Franco is house-trained, crate-trained, and is fine with other dogs.  Cats, not so much. He would do best in a calm household without small children. He is neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations.   If you’re looking for a loyal and loving best friend, Franco would be a great addition to your team!   Apply directly at www.pawsacrosspittsburgh.com/adopt through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA 15144, KL#16182. ##1621323##
