Story
She is tiny. She is happy. She is absolutely full of personality! This is Beanie Baby! You just found the kind of little dog who brings a whole lot of life in a petite package. She’s estimated to be just shy of a year old and weighs just 22 lbs. While she might be a pug/terrier mix, rescue rules apply, so her exact blend is anyone’s guess. Breed doesn't matter though, you can see she is adorable and has that bright, joyful energy that makes her easy to love right away. See for yourself! Go watch Beanie Baby on YouTube and then come right back to read more. Seeing her bounce between playful and cuddly in real time really tells her story best. https://youtu.be/3sVWSTxmT5I One quick note you may notice in her video or photos. Beanie Baby previously had a visible cherry eye, which has since been corrected. It was purely cosmetic and never caused her pain, and now it’s been taken care of. Beanie Baby greets the world like it’s full of friends she just hasn’t met yet. She is open, affectionate, and sweet with new people, and while she does have that fun, energetic puppy spark, she also knows how to settle in and enjoy a good cuddle when the moment calls for it. She has such a nice balance. Play hard, then happily curl up close. Outside she’s confident and curious without being clingy. She’ll wander, explore, check things out, and make her rounds with an easygoing independence, then circle back in for some love. She is friendly with both people and dogs, showing the same happy, social approach without any tension or hesitation. She also has the beginnings of a fetch career… once she figures out the “bring it back” part, she’ll be unstoppable. That and maybe having a ball small enough to fit in her mouth. With other animals, she continues to shine. She is fostered in a home with a small dog and a similar age/size dog. Her foster shares that she is an enthusiastic playmate and has had zero issues. No jealousy, no tension, just a happy girl who likes to play and is happy when attention turns her way. When it comes to cats, she did beautifully. We introduced her to our house cat and she was excited to meet him but remained respectful and cautious with the perfect touch of curiosity. She gave him space, checked in politely, and coexisted without any stress. We see all the qualities of a dog that would be a great fit for a home with a cat. Beanie Baby is the kind of dog who could fit into a lot of different lifestyles. She’s small enough for apartment living, social enough for multi-pet homes, and has that adaptable, happy nature that makes transitions feel easy. She’s just a really good, really lovable little dog. If you’ve been looking for a pint-sized companion with a big heart and an even bigger personality, Beanie Baby is ready to make herself right at home. Story
If happiness had a mascot, I’m pretty sure it would at the least resemble Koi. This boy is the definition of a peoples-dog, spreading wiggly affectionate and an enthusiasm for love everywhere he goes. To him, it is absolutely a thrill to be loved! The moment you start petting him, you can see him light up like it’s the best day of his life- tail wagging, body wiggling, whole-face smile.. Standing still for love is just not his style! Take a look at him in action- it's worth it- then come back to read more - https://youtu.be/_-aMxaMQHH4 Koi is estimated to be 1.5-year-old, he weighs 33-lbs and we suspect he is a pug mix but we cannot guarantee breed or birthday considering he is a rescue. Koi enjoys adventure and is an eager explorer who has basic leash skills and will polish to perfection with practice and the occasional gentle correction. He checks in often and is happy to deliver on your expectation. Dog-wise, Koi is a social and playful guy. No surprise right, you can just see it in him. We spent the afternoon introducing him to new dogs and watching him play and he is polite during on leash introductions, with a little excitement sneaking in here and there but it is all in a friendly nature. The only trouble with Koi's friendly enthusiasm and playstyle is that not every dog finds it fun. He loves a good playmate with matching energy but tends to pester dogs to play in an annoying, younger sibling sort of way. We have seen his best fit to be with dogs that have a very similar frenchy/boston type of baby bull playstyle. It's almost like the annoying cancels itself out. LOL! But with that said, this boy would also be perfectly content being your one and only! Koi’s ideal home will give him an outlet for his energy- walks, playdates, or backyard fun- and people who don’t mind his occasional joyful jumps or sneaky smooches (aka-face licks.) He’s a small package with a big-dog heart and a contagious joy for life. The perfect dog if you love hosting and have a dog-loving bunch of friends and family. He is friendly, outgoing, and greets new people with open paws and a full-body wiggle, so much so that people may want to come over just to hang out with him. He does jump up gently to give hugs so a family with slightly older kids who can handle his excitement would be perfect. This boy is going to be the sweetest sidekick and promises to help keep life fun. If the words compact bundle of sunshine or wiggly joy are on your list of must-have qualities for your dog, look no further Koi is your boy and his tail is already wagging for you! Story
Squishy, splooty, and spectacularly unbothered… this is Barney. A low-riding, soft-hearted gentleman with a built-in off switch and a very serious commitment to comfort. He’s the kind of dog who treats life like a cozy Sunday afternoon… all day, every day. Go watch Barney Belly-Up Bliss Mode on YouTube, then come back… because seeing the full-body sploot and his signature “booty scratch malfunction” really completes the picture. https://youtu.be/td5ulHjXcNU Barney is estimated to be around 4 years old and weighs about 60 lbs. He looks like a bulldog/staffie mix with that perfectly smooshy, huggable build, but as always, rescue rules apply… breed and birthday are our best guess. What we do know for sure is that Barney has mastered the art of being chill. His foster describes him as easygoing, affectionate, and wonderfully low-key. He lives with multiple dogs of all sizes and ages and gets along beautifully with everyone, happily coexisting and minding his own business like the unbothered king he is. Barney doesn’t need the spotlight. He’s more of a “I’ll be right here if you need me” kind of companion. He’s confident and loving with people, happy to accept affection (especially if it comes in the form of a good booty scratch… fair warning, that may cause a full system reboot). He greets the world with a calm curiosity, takes everything in stride, and if something isn’t his vibe, he simply turns away and carries on. It’s a quiet kind of confidence that makes him incredibly easy to have around. Let’s talk about his hobbies, because Barney is a specialist. His top skills include: professional-level lounging, slow wandering, and executing a 10/10 sploot with textbook form. He’s not here for chaos or cardio. In fact, once he’s decided he’s done walking, he’s done. Think less “let’s go for a hike” and more “let’s sit together and watch the clouds do their thing.” He would thrive in a home that appreciates a slower pace and doesn’t expect playful, high-energy antics. With other dogs, Barney is social but likes to keep it chill. He prefers calm companions who respect his space and aren’t looking for a wrestling partner. He communicates clearly, sets polite boundaries, and then goes back to his regularly scheduled wandering. Barney is not a cat guy so a cat-free home will be needed and he would do best in a home without lots of stairs due to his sturdy build and low-to-the-ground frame. Crates aren’t his favorite either, he will oblige with a tiny woo-woo protest but his foster has found that giving him freedom and comfort works beautifully for him. He is trustworthy are perfectly house-trained. Barney is the definition of a companion dog. Not a project, not a whirlwind… just a steady, lovable presence who wants to exist alongside his people and soak up the simple things. A retired couple maybe, a quiet home, a comfy couch… that’s his dream lineup. If you’ve been waiting for a “no drama, just vibes” kind of dog, Barney is ready to report for duty. Apply today and welcome home your favorite nap partner. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69ebbffb6ed356befb03aa08 Questions? Story
She is squish and devotion and believes that “lap-dog” is a state of mind, not a body type. Her name is Barbara but you can call her Barb, she is a classic bulldog with a heart that runs on affection and a personality that says, “can I just schooch in right here?” She doesn’t just enjoy being close, she melts into you like butter on a warm biscuit. Go watch Barbara on YouTube, then come right back to read more about your new favorite passenger princess and professional cuddle enthusiast. https://youtu.be/unKTmsRCd28?si=vdY8nU4srLzwYlcf Barbara is estimated to be around 4 years old and weighs 44 lbs of pure, lovable squish. Her looks let us believe she is bulldog mix but she brings a softness to that otherwise bullyishy stereotype that comes with bulldogs. She brings the perfect blend of adoration, softness, and an easygoing nature that makes it easy to fall head over heels for her instantly. Let’s start with her favorite thing in the world- you! Barbara truly does not believe in strangers. She’ll walk right up, sit sweetly at your feet, and hit you with those big ol’ heart eyes before melting into belly-rub position or at the least, solid foot-warmer. Belly rubs? Yes please. Gentle pets? Absolutely. Attention in any form? She is already on her way over. She shares affection beautifully too, never pushy, just happily collecting love wherever it’s offered. If you are too busy, she will happily wait it out in the form of a nap nearby. She’s also a dream on leash. Barbara walks easily, nicely paced, with little need for correction, making her a perfect match for someone who enjoys relaxed strolls over marathon walks. Think: a nice, easy outing, some fresh air, then straight back inside for couch time. That’s her rhythm, but is that a surprise? Not at all! One role Barbara takes very seriously is that of passenger princess. She rides wonderfully in the car, happy to be your co-pilot for any errand or outing, as long as you remember one important detail… she expects valet service. You will get the door and offer a hand. No tip will be offered. This one area is where the royal treatment isn’t optional. When it comes to other dogs, Barbara is polite- she will greet and move along, often choosing people over playtime. If another dog gets too rowdy, she’s confident enough to give a clear, appropriate correction and then disengage. She would do best with a calm, low-energy dog companion or as your one-and-only, soaking up all the love for herself. She should be in a home with dogs her size or larger (25 lbs+.) At home, Barbara is wonderfully easygoing. She settles in quickly, enjoys a little play but tires out fast, and is happiest just being near her people. She could do well in a house or the right apartment setting, though stairs may be a bit of a challenge, so minimal steps or easy access living would suit her best. One last thing, an important note from Barbara she insists we mention again- she firmly believes that “lap dog” is a state of mind, not a body type… and she is prepared to demonstrate this belief at any given moment. Consider this your official warning/invitation. Barbara is for the person who wants a steady, affectionate, low-key companion… a dog who will sit at your feet (or directly on you), ride shotgun, and remind you daily that love can be soft, simple, and wonderfully squishy. If you’re ready for a loyal little shadow with a heart as big as her bulldog cheeks, Barbara is ready and waiting for you!
