Closed doors are unacceptable when her person is on the other side. - Smooch is easygoing, affectionate and generally low maintenance; she is generally quiet and is not much of a barker. Compatibility & Behavior - Smooch is potty trained. - Smooch rides well in the car and also does well on leash walks. - She may howl when left home alone and will scratch persistently at a closed door if her person is on the other side. Her future family should be prepared to help her feel secure when separated. - Smooch is a very enthusiastic beggar when people food appears and may investigate an accessible trash can. A covered trash can and a commitment to ignoring her dramatic dinner performance will be helpful. - Smooch is comfortable when greeting other dogs on walks and didn't flinch when meeting the cat at the vet.

Meet Red, a 3-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing approximately 10 pounds who is looking for a very special Forever Home. Red came to A Forever Home Animal Rescue after being rescued from a large hoarding situation. Along with several other dogs, he arrived scared, unsocialized, and completely unfamiliar with what it meant to be loved and cared for. While the other dogs have made tremendous progress, Red remains the most fearful of the group. Although he now understands that people provide food, safety, and kindness, he still struggles to trust and is not yet comfortable being handled. Because of this, Red will need an exceptionally patient adopter who understands that building a relationship with him will take time, consistency, and compassion. Red's story is one of hope. Every day, he learns a little more about the world and what it means to feel safe. He deserves a home where he can continue that journey at his own pace, without pressure, and with people who will celebrate even the smallest victories.
