Story
Bowser is a 10 month old, 20 pound French Bulldog with a big personality packed into one very adorable little body. He's super friendly, affectionate, playful and wonderfully goofy. Bowser loves people and loves being part of whatever is going on. He runs, plays and enjoys life like the happy puppy he is.
When it comes to other dogs, Bowser is very much a Frenchie. He’s friendly, but personal space and social cues are not exactly his strong suit. He can be a little much for another dog simply because he wants to play and doesn’t always know when his enthusiasm isn’t being appreciated. A tolerant canine companion may be a good match, but the individual dog will matter.
As special as Bowser is, he also needs a very special adopter. Despite being only 10 months old, Bowser is already experiencing some lameness in his back legs. He is being evaluated by our vet, and while we don’t have all the answers yet, IVDD is one of the concerns. This doesn’t stop Bowser from being Bowser. He still runs, plays, loves and enjoys his days. But it does mean his future family needs to go into his adoption with their eyes and hearts open.
We are looking for an experienced adopter who understands that Bowser may have ongoing medical needs throughout his life and who is financially prepared to provide whatever veterinary care he may need. His home will also need to be mindful of protecting his back, including limiting jumping and other activities that could put unnecessary stress on his spine.
Bowser is not neutered yet. He may come with a few more needs than the average 10 month old puppy, but he also comes with an enormous amount of personality, affection and joy. We know there is someone out there who will look at this lovable little guy and see exactly what we see: a very special dog who deserves the chance to have a wonderful life, whatever that life may require.
Bowser is looking for someone willing to be his person for all of it. The goofy days, the playful days, the cuddly days and, if they come, the harder days too.
ADOPTION PROCESS:
1. You must begin our adoption process by applying to adopt on clawsadopt.org. Please do NOT inquire via Petfinder, social media messengers or in our comments. We will only be looking at applications!
2. Please make sure you fill out our adoption application COMPLETELY. We may not be able to respond to applications that are not completely filled out with the proper information. Side note: on our applications, the more details you provide = the better.
3. We prefer applicants live within 60 miles of Closter, NJ. (Applicants who live farther away may still apply. However, please note we do prioritize local applications as we try our best to serve our local community first.)
4. Please respect our organization, our volunteers and our process. As a reminder, our organization is a nonprofit. We receive no money from the state. We have no paid employees! This is a polite reminder that we are doing our best to make the right decisions for the animals in our care. Thank you.
