Story
Cricket was born November 7, 2025. I got her when she was 8 weeks old. She is pure bred Pumi. Because of my age and back issues I can’t really keep up with her. She loves the neighborhood cat. She can fetch, and loves to. She sits for her food. She is outside during the day, with plenty of shade. She comes in at night or during bad weather and stays in an area blocked off for her with a pet gate. She loves to play in water.

Story
Ranger is six years old and 16 lbs. He's a smart and observant dog who thrives in calm, predictable environments without children. He is fully potty trained, very loyal, and forms a very strong bond with his person. Once he feels safe and comfortable, he is incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle.  He enjoys simple routines, indoor play like fetch, and being close to his person. While he can be vocal and tends to bark or keep his distance when unsure, this is rooted in his cautious nature rather than aggression. Ranger does best in quiet homes and can become anxious in busy or high-energy environments, especially around children or unfamiliar situations. Because of this, he would do best in an adult-only home with someone patient and experienced who can give him time to decompress, build trust, and provide consistent structure. He has lived with another small dog in the past and did well, though he may need a slow introduction. In the right environment, he relaxes significantly and shows his loving, loyal personality. Ranger truly thrives when he feels safe and understood. He has so much love to give and, with the right home, has the potential to be an incredibly devoted and rewarding companion.  Ranger is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. He doesn't shed but needs consistent, professional grooming and daily brushing to stay happy and healthy. Please consider this added expense and commitment before applying. His adoption fee is $275 and you can apply to meet him here: Adoption Application - Legacy Humane SocietyWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
After knowing Chiquita her whole life (11 years), we adopted her from my sister-in-law after seeing how bothered she was by having my nieces around her. She was skin and bones when my sister-in-law decided she'd have to put her in a shelter. I thought, since our son is a bit older than my nieces, maybe we could keep her. We've had her for 2 years now, and she is healthy. However, small kids still bother her. She has snapped at my son's legs while he is running through the house on occasion but recently snapped at him in the face when he attempted to pick her up. Aside from this issue, she is very sweet and affectionate, but I cannot ensure my son and nieces won't touch her in a way that makes her uncomfortable. She deserves a home with no small children.
