Story
My name is Roxie and I am an 8 year old Rat Terrier who ended up in the Miami-Dade Animal Services shelter unable to walk and no one knows why. The shelter was going to end my life and a rescue tried and tried to save me but the shelter gave me to this person who had a lot of money and they adopted me. They adopted me because they thought I would be a good motivator for their son, but the problem is that at the time, I couldn't walk and I had a really bad doggie cold and I felt really bad. And even though I think they had a bunch of money trees because they had a lot of money, they didn't want to take me to the doctor to help me feel better and to help figure out why I was having so much trouble walking. The people finally decided they didn't want me anymore and thankfully the rescue that wanted to save me when I was in the shelter heard that they didn't want me and told them they would take me and get me the help I needed. Since they surrendered me to the rescue, I underwent testing that revealed that I had a muscular issue which is all better after several weeks of laser therapy. My doggie cold is also better as well too. I am fully vaccinated, microchipped, and on all preventatives. The shelter adopted me out without spaying me, and the rescue wanted to make sure that I was medically clear first before spaying me, so I will be spayed before being adopted out. I am a nervous girl but I do love affection once I know that you're not going to hurt me. So please give me a chance. I don't remember what my life was like before I ended up in the shelter, and that's probably a good thing. I hope you will help me to make new ones that are happy ones where you are my mommy or daddy and you love me.

Story
If you are looking for a wonderful, sweet girl, who is greatly in need, please read on about Charlotte Grace. Although not a little, fluffy, Shih Tzu, which most of our clients seek, once you learn about the difficulties Charlotte Grace has endured, you might open your heart to this terrific terrier. Charlotte Grace was abandoned on the streets and came to us over 2 years ago. She was about 8 years old, unspayed, had burns on some of her paw pads, and had heartworms. We were able to spay her, and her paw pads healed nicely. The heartworm treatment was eventually successful, but the disease left her with a bad case of pulmonary hypertension. She is comfortable at rest, but coughs if she gets too excited or exercises too much. Her last check up at the cardiologist was good in that her condition had stabilized.             Charlotte Grace is a friendly, fun, silly girl, who will make a devoted, loving companion. She adores being with people, receiving belly rubs, going for short walks, and just hanging out. Most of her time will need to be inside, out of the heat, and calm. Charlotte Grace is now about 10 years old. She is overweight, but should be about 15-16 pounds at proper weight. She will be best as the only dog at home, or with another, mellow, male dog (no females).          Despite her history of neglect, abandonment, and heartworm disease, Charlotte Grace is a beautiful, spirited, fantastic girl, who enjoys every day to the fullest.  She may not be the dog you thought you were looking for at Shih Tzu Rescue, but, if you want to love and support one of our dogs in greatest need, please consider Charlotte Grace, and put in an application, and/or call Harriet today. Please watch the video at the end of the photos to see sweet Charlotte Grace enjoying her people time and warming our hearts. She is amazing!July 22, 2024, 2:52 pm
