Story
Sammy (9 yrs, 13 lbs) is a sweet companion who will thrive in a quiet home with outdoor space and no children. We are moving internationally in June and sadly won't be able to bring her along. Sammy does well with other dogs in the home; she grew up around an older dog, and frequently stays with family who have a dog. Sammy is very smart, trainable, loves to play, and enjoys walks. On a nice day, she likes to spend hours out in the yard. She is currently on daily medication support to manage anxiety, which has helped minimize barking, reactivity to sudden noises, and general stress. On a day-to-day basis she is happy and engaged, but vet visits and stressful situations may require support (e.g. extra anxiety medication). Sammy completed a reward-based behavior modification package with Plucky Paws at our home and did very well. She made a lot of progress in her uneasiness with strangers by using training games and her food guarding was reduced by using enrichment feeding at mealtimes.

Breed: Wire-Haired Jack Russell Terrier Energy Level: High—still has that puppy zip and loves adventure. Personality: Feisty, curious, affectionate when he wants to be, and always up for fun. ❤️ Waylon's Favorites: Belly Scratches: He melts for a good belly rub session. Toys, Toys, Toys: Playtime is his favorite time of the day. The Great Outdoors: He adores being outside, especially near water. Sniffari Adventures: Exploring and sniffing out every new scent in his environment is pure bliss for him. 🏡 Ideal Home & Training Needs: Waylon is a work in progress and needs a patient and understanding family committed to helping him thrive. House Manners: Waylon is not currently housetrained and struggles with traditional house manners. He needs a dedicated owner willing to work on consistent training routines and possibly manage an indoor space where accidents are okay while he learns. Companions: He is dog-selective and prefers to be the star of the show. No cats or small animals, please. He might do best as the only dog or in a home with another calm, well-matched canine companion after a careful introduction.
