Story
Libby is a Rat Terrier, born in 2022.  She is a calm girl, sometimes a little shy and nervous around people until she warms up.  Libby is house trained, leash trained and crate trained.  Her kennel is her safe space and the door stays open for her so she can go in and out. Libby is friendly with other dogs and would benefit from having another small dog in the home to keep her company and show her the ropes.  She ignores the cat she currently lives with, so she would probably be okay having a cat in the home. The perfect home for Libby would be with a quiet person or couple.  She's friendly with older kids (age 6+), so no small children in the home. Libby has a little submissive urination sometimes.  Please help us find this sweet little girl a home! The suggested adoption donation for Libby is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
He is about 22 pounds a year and a half old is energetic and loves to play. I relocated from my home to an apartment. I’m not able to keep him would like somebody that spends a lot of time at home he doesn’t need to be left alone. He’s too young for that. Has grown up with cats and dogs and is used to having a fenced in yard run so he will have to be walked. he has always been an inside dog and would not like him to have to live outside.

Story
Welcome to rescue, Lilith!  She is a parvo survivor and adjusting to her new surroundings at her foster home.  Lilith is a Rat Terrier, born appx July 1, 2025.  She's getting lots of TLC.  Once she is fully recovered, she will be ready for his next chapter!  We'll share updates and more information about Lilith as we learn more about her! Please Note:  Lilith came to rescue Parvo+ and won’t be able to go to her furever home until released from the vet as she will be “shedding” parvo until then.  We encourage you to apply to adopt so we can start the process now! The suggested adoption donation for Lilith is $525, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Story
Poncho is a sweet, loyal guy who loves to cuddle up on the couch and take short walks. He is an older rat terrier. At his last check up, the vet found that he has a heart murmur (common in smaller, older dogs) and he is on medication for that. He is also on a daily low dose pain killer to help with those small aches and pains that come with age. He walks great on a leash, responds to his name, and sits on command. He is currently learning 'stay.' Poncho is very affectionate and always wants to be beside his person. He loves tomatoes and bananas! Poncho does okay with other dogs but does tend to be possessive over food and toys. He reacts well to our 2 cats but does need a slow introduction. He is 26 pounds.
