Story
Meet Koda – The Belly Rub Enthusiast If you're looking for a puppy who brings excitement, laughter, and endless affection wherever he goes, Koda may be your perfect match. This happy-go-lucky boy is full of personality and always ready for his next adventure. Whether he's chasing a toy, wrestling with dog friends, exploring the backyard, or rolling over for a belly rub, Koda approaches life with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. His foster's favorite fact about him? Koda absolutely LOVES belly rubs. In fact, he believes they should be a required part of every day. Koda Loves: -Belly rubs -Playing with other dogs -Playing with toys -Fetch -Tug toys -Exploring and sniffing new places -Chewing bones -Meeting new people -Cuddling Koda's Favorite Thing: Attention from his people. Koda loves being included in whatever is happening and is always excited to make new friends. He has never met a stranger and believes everyone should stop and say hello. A Fun-Loving Puppy: Koda is a confident, social puppy who is always ready for action. He is playful, curious, and eager to experience everything the world has to offer. Whether he's learning something new, investigating an interesting smell, or playing with his canine friends, Koda brings energy and excitement to every situation. Despite all of his puppy enthusiasm, he also has a sweet and cuddly side. After a busy day of adventures, he's more than happy to curl up next to his people and soak up affection. One of Koda's funniest quirks is that he enjoys watching TV with his family. He'll happily settle in for a show, but if a scene gets a little too intense—especially if there's fighting, arguing, or yelling—he feels the need to share his opinion and will bark at the television. Apparently, Koda prefers feel-good programming! A Few Things to Know: -House trained with a consistent routine. -Crate trained. -Loves other dogs -No major behavioral concerns noted -High puppy energy -Food motivated and eager to learn -Smart and responsive to training Great Activities for Koda: -Fetch sessions -Tug-of-war -Puppy playdates -Training games -Backyard adventures -Exploring new places -Family outings -Cuddle time after playtime Best Match: -Active individuals and families -Family-friendly homes -Homes looking for a playful companion -People who enjoy training and enrichment activities -Families ready for an energetic puppy Three Words That Describe Koda Best: ❤️ Sweet ❤️ Fun ❤️ Friendly Foster Location: La Crosse, WI The foster is willing to meet approved adopters within approximately 30–45 minutes of La Crosse, pending schedule availability. Koda's early history is somewhat unclear, but it appears he entered rescue as a young puppy and spent time in foster care before making his way to Wisconsin. What is clear is that he has grown into a loving, social, and incredibly fun puppy who is ready to find a family of his own. If you're searching for a puppy who will keep you laughing, keep you active, and happily roll over for belly rubs at every opportunity, Koda may be exactly who you've been looking for. Story
Puma is a very sweet, outgoing, and friendly 7 year old rat terrier. She is overall a very easy dog who would make a good addition to most homes. Her favorite hobbies are sitting on her foster mom's lap and giving kisses, hanging out in the sun on the patio keeping a watch for chipmunks, chewing on bully sticks or other healthy chews, and snuggling up on the couch or a comfy dog bed in the evening. She is very social and curious. She loves to snuggle and cuddle. She definitely thinks she's a lap dog. She is playful and likes to shake shake shake her toys - like a good rat terrier. She is good with dogs. Unknown how she is with cats but may do ok with slow introductions. Her foster home doesn't have children but we think she would be fine living with kids. She has done well meeting kids at adoption events. The only consideration is that she does jump for attention so that might be overwhelming for very small kiddos. She is great in a kennel overnight and when her foster mom leaves the home. She is mostly potty trained - just a few transition accidents. She is doing great with walking confidently on a leash. She does not necessarily need a fenced in yard but is not totally reliable off leash. She would need to be on a leash or long tie-out when outside. She does really enjoy being outside so would prefer a fenced in yard that she can safely hang out in. She is a little on the overweight side. While this just means there is more of her to love, she definitely needs a home committed to helping her continue her weight loss plan for her long term health. She is already doing great in her foster home and has definitely slimmed down so should be able to get down to an ideal weight pretty easily. The key is monitored food intake and daily exercise - even if that exercise is just running around the yard. Otherwise she has a clean bill of health from the vet. She is spayed, current on vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick disease free and microchipped! Adoption fee: $450 plus tax. ❤️🐾 Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org

Story
Sugar Plum is a 12-year-old Rat Terrier with a tiny body, a big personality, and a serious love for snuggles. At just 10 pounds, she’s happiest curled up in your arms or cozied next to you on the couch. She’s a spunky little senior who will absolutely make sure she’s included in whatever you’re doing (preferably from your lap). This sweet girl has been through a lot, but now that her medical needs are managed, her joyful personality is shining. She is diabetic and requires insulin injections twice a day, which she handles like a pro. She’s also mostly blind and has only one eye, so she’ll need a little help navigating new spaces—but she learns her environment quickly and even responds to cues like “careful.” She also only has a few teeth left, so she’ll need wet or softened food for life (which she is VERY enthusiastic about), and often wakes up with her tongue hanging out.Sugar Plum is fully house trained and sleeps peacefully in her playpen at night. She settles well when left alone, especially with a treat or two. She’s not much of a barker unless she needs something—like being picked up now, thank you very much—or if meal service is taking too long. She’s unfazed by other dogs and cats, mostly because she can’t see them, and would do fine sharing a home with calm pets. Because of her need for calm roommates, she cannot live with small children (no kids under 13).Don’t expect long walks—Sugar Plum is more of a professional lounger. She prefers staying inside, staying warm (sweaters encouraged!), and staying close to her humans. She has plenty of toys in her foster home but no use for them.Sugar Plum is looking for a calm, loving home that will appreciate her quirks and funny spirit. In return, she’ll be your daily reminder that the best things really do come in small, slightly sassy packages! If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $250. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.
