Story
Aeryn is a gentle 3-year-old rat terrier and Jack Russell terrier mix. She may be a little unsure for the first minute or two when meeting someone new, but it doesn’t take long before her tail starts wagging and her whole body wiggles with excitement. Once she warms up, she is happy to greet new friends and soak up all the attention she can get. She is truly a people’s dog at heart. While she gets along well with dogs of all sizes, Aeryn tends to prefer spending time with her humans. She will play a little with other dogs, but she is just as happy to relax nearby or curl up for a nap. In fact, many of her foster dog friends enjoy snoozing beside her. Her interactions with other dogs often feel more gentle and maternal than playful, which makes her a calming presence in the home. If she lives with another dog, she would do best with one that does not need a constant playmate.
Aeryn has a moderate energy level and enjoys toys, but she also excels at being a cozy nap companion. She is eager to please and has a sweet, gentle temperament that makes her a joy to have around. She has not met children yet, but based on her personality, she would likely do very well with them. She is crate trained and actually loves her crate. It is her favorite little cave where she relaxes, naps, and sometimes gathers up a pile of soft toys. She sleeps in her crate overnight and does well, although she can be a bit vocal in the morning when she is ready to go outside. Her barking is not frequent, but when she does bark she has a surprisingly big voice for her size. Because of this, a home without shared walls would be the best fit for her.
Aeryn is still working on perfecting her potty training, but she is doing well with a consistent routine. As long as she is taken outside first thing in the morning and shortly after meals, she does a great job going potty outside. With her sweet nature, wiggly greetings, and love for cozy naps with her people, Aeryn is the kind of dog who quickly becomes a beloved companion. She is ready to find a home where she can be someone’s loyal little shadow and favorite snuggle buddy.
